    Match Ratings

Just got back. Never been to the County Ground before so another one of the 92 chalked off. 3pts away from home is always a good day.

Bass 7 - Not massively tested but dealt really well with everything thrown his way and looks a master at the routine side of goalkeeping.
Bedeau 7 - Steady game. Dealt well with Harry Smith and apart from the odd misplaced pass, was pretty good.
Platt 8 - Don't think he put a foot wrong.
Macari 6.5 - Decent performance, but didn't feel he was at his best (but was far from bad!).
Hinchy 6 - A few heart in the mouth moments first half. Didn't do a lot wrong, but didn't have enough impact on the game.
Jones 6 - Not his best game, but tightly marked and a small pitch.
Crowley 6 - Not as involved as usual, but was well marshalled.
Edwards 5.5 - Can't fault his effort, but not his game today. Didn't hit the same heights as he did against Grimsby. Tried hard but just no that involved.
Tsaroulla 6 - Again, tried hard and put a shift in. I think needed to play the ball in a few times in the first half when the chance was available.
Grant 7 - Similar to Tsaroulla, but gains marks for a monster tackle in the first half that lead to our goal.
McGoldrick 8 - Two moments of pure genius, showing his class and why he has played at a higher level.

    Subs
Gordon 5 - Not really involved. One clear foul when in a promising position. In fairness, he didn't get much service either.
Palmer 6 - A typical steady Palmer display.
Scott 5 - Ran around a lot, but not many touches on the ball and unable to make his presence felt.
Abbott 5.5 - A couple of nice touches and looks like he has good potential. With 8 minutes though, not a lot he can really do.

In summary, we looked a different side to the one at Grimsby. The first half was pretty even, but the second half was one way traffic and we were fortunate to be level pegging, let alone come away with all 3 points. We worked hard and defended well however and took our chances when they came. You could almost say it was a perfect away performance. Definitely not a game to remember, but it's another 3pts and that's all I care about . U Pies!!!

    Match Rating Vs Swindon

Just back from the County Ground and here are my ratings from the away section:

Bass 8.5 - claimed crosses , made saves and no heart attack with ball at feet
Tsaroulla 6.5 defended well, limited going forward
    Bedeau 7 solid
Platt 8 very impressive does what we couldn’t do last season for 90 mins
    Macari 6.5 slightly disappointing
Hinch 6 too soon to fill in for Robbie
Grant 6.5 classy player needs a little more involvement
    Edwards 6.5 ok
Crowley 6 quite and didn’t impact game
Jones 6.5 disappointing by his standards
McGoldrick 8.5 needed him to step up and he did so and the some

Palmer 6.5 needed at that point in game but not back to best yet as you would expect
Gordon 6 hmmmm , not enough to comment
Scott 6 didn't have an impact during difficult period
    Abbott 7 I liked what I saw

Maynard 7.5 did the subs we needed when we needed them. Didn’t hang about to make the first changes

Looks like myself and Boomerangpie started the ratings thread at the same time. Swale - any chance you can merge them please?

    About right I would say.

The defensive unit was good, the midfield unit lightweight at times, especially out of possession, particularly Edwards. We need more bite in midfield to maintain control of the game.

    Didzy was tremendous.

I do think Robertson will be a key player for us this season if he can overcome his recent injury problems. He’s the only physical player on the books, with the rest of the midfield a little lightweight by comparison. Don’t think I’ve ever heard of someone pulling a chest muscle before, let’s hope it doesn’t take too long to heal and he can start training again soon.

I did once, assuming we're talking about the intercostal muscles (i.e. those between the ribs). Not a big deal as far as I can tell.
