Match thoughts - Barnsley v Brighton

After the disappointment of losing to the last kick of the game at Blackpool, we take on a very good Premier league side.
I can't see anything but a defeat here, what I'm hoping for is a good performance and that we don't get a confidence sapping hammering, like we did at Man Utd.
Brighton won't play all of their 1st team and we will probably get minutes into the likes of Barrett, Russell and Rooney, I can also see Nwakali getting some game time off the bench since he was included in the 3-0 u21 defeat.
We still need to be careful with teams selection as Brighton fielded a weakened team in the last round against Championship Oxford and hammered them 6-0........
On the plus side we are unbeaten at home and Conor has said we will try not to lose 2 on the bounce!!
Here's hoping for an upset, but I can't see it.

Well HT 0-3 and to say they are a Premier league side, we haven't played that bad!
2 absolute bangers from Gomez who has a 1st half hat trick, 1 from 25 yards and 1 from about 40 yards, both unstoppable shots.
Ref isn't being strong enough as soon as we get the ball they foul us, and only 1 yellow card.
The gulf in class is clear to see though.

We matched Oxford in the end by getting beat 0-6.
A class apart Brighton! We hit the woodwork 3 times but to be fair didn't deserve anything.
Farugia for me was our motm and is pushing for a start! You could see on 70 minutes some players were shattered, this led to no tracking back or being able to keep up with the quickness of their players and general play.
I wish Russell would just move on, his passing is terrible and his fitness went after about 60 minutes.
Yoganathan is not ready for 1st team football yet! He is naive, he loses his player often, isn't quick enough to get back and is weak in a challenge which is often miss timed! He was the same at Blackpool at the weekend when he came on, he definitely needs more time being loaned out to probably back to Oldham for a taste of League 2.

I was there and to be honest I did not think we deserved a six nil thumping, some of the goals were world class and it seemed to me that it was one of them nights where everything they hit went into the net , obviously they were a different class to us but I do not think we deserved an humiliating defeat but at least it will give the armchair critics some ammunition which this season they have had short supply , my MOM was Cleary who I thought was excellent with a special mention for our captain who was the pulse of our team and we certainly went down hill after he was rested mid way through the second half , but all in all it will have probably done some of our players no harm, to play against talented players adds experience , not an experience they will have enjoyed but never the less hopefully it will do them more good than harm, we move on !!
