I see FIFA have fined England €45000 for the remembrance day saga.

Question, why was the Irish FA only fined 5000 for a more political statement and also why only take action against them after the poppy incident. Would they have not bothered had the latest incident not arisen?

I should have included the fact that the Irish infraction happened months ago in celebration of the Easter uprising.

Sport and politics should be kept separate and I am not happy by national team represented something that I strongly disagree with. OK if it was still the world wars but now it encompasses the likes of the illegal invasion of Iraq is unacceptable.

I think you have the wrong ideas about remembrance day. We don't remember the politicians who sent them there, we remember the people who lost their lives.

So what you're saying is that it is unacceptable to honour a young nurse who went to Iraq to help any injured person not just our forces. Yet you would gladly honour some bullying, wife beating so and so, who after committing atrocities to native women when advancing with our forces during ww2, got his come uppence?

No, in our hearts, we remember those that we feel deserve it, not the monsters, whatever the circumstances. Poppy day should be nothing to do with politicians.

Absolutely laughable for FIFA to be punishing and applying rules on anyone. The whole establishment has no morals and is as trust worthy as a banana republic leader ok Blatter is out of the picture but where is the findings of Russia and Qatar? Does Russia even deserve to hold a World Cup after its recent scandals? Nothing will happen, as it exposes this poison for what it is. Far easier to to make an issue about a bloody flower on a shirt. IMO its a personal thing. I throw what I have into Poppy Appeal collecting jars as a thank-you to those who've look after my welfare in ways I wouldn't dare. As it happens I DON'T wear a poppy because I don't wear any signs of allegiance apart from a set of DCFC cufflinks, but anyone who risks life (a close relative of mine did) and limb for my sake gets my vote
