    Who was the best

...local player you've seen play for us.

The 3 obvious ones I've seen are Waddle, Beardsley and Gascgoine and, for me, it was Beardsley who was the best. Maybe it helps that he was involved, second time round, with some amazing memories and I obviously saw him play for us a lot more than the other two. That partnership with Cole was fantastic and he scored some of the best goals I've seen a Newcastle player score.

Probably the best of those was against Brighton in Keegan's last game when he did a one-two with Keegan, slid to take the ball away from the defender, and in one move, swivelled and chipped Corrigan from the edge of the box. Now I'm fairly sure I'm right that Corrigan holds the record for being the league's tallest ever 'keeper at just over 25 ft so that makes it doubly impressive.

Over to you. Might be a bit churlish to put up a thread about the worst ever locally born player today, seeing as it's Christmas...but it's coming. And we probably have more candidates for that

i think Shearer, he was everything any club and manager would dream of having, its a shame we as a club didn't match the achievements he could have achieved elsewhere

    Shearer
    Milburn
    Gazza
    Pedro
Albert Stubbins ( I was only 11 when I saw him play for us but saw him play for Liverpool in my late te ens and he was majestic)

I loved watching Beardsley,Shearer and Gazza but if you talk about achievements in my lifetime it has to be Milburn.

3 FA Cup winners medals before there was European football,Milburn scored in two of the finals which puts him way in front of the other candidates.
The great Stanley Mathews said of Milburn,he beat us on his own.

Best one to watch makes you think of Gazza, Pedro, Waddle etc.

If you take stats and goals into considederation, its hard to leave Shearer out.

    Shearer for me.
