Goal looked like tippy-tappy done right - 11 passes before the cross?

The backheel though (and I had Scott down as first scorer in the prediction league too)... and bloody hell that last ditch clearance.

Ruben could’ve played Scott in in the second half as well but passed it the other way…ahh well.

Don’t think it was a penalty, but it was borderline, and a pretty pointless attempt by Baldwin.

How on earth that was only 1-0 is beyond me.

I think if the ref saw that on VAR he would have given the penalty. Their player does seem to be looking for it a bit, but there was definite contact from Baldwin and no attempt to play the ball.

Considering the player was going to have all on keeping the ball in play from there anyway all Baldwin had to do was shepherd him out, I think we were very fortunate.

Bugger the "contact" bit, it's supposed to be a contact sport and it was till we started importing them Ities and Dagoes and being the innocents in this sort of thing we took it for granted that their diving and histrionics were the real thing, now it's too late to go our own way and back to the blood and thunder of yesteryear.

Comments from Alan Shearer about a player being "entitled" to go down if he feels a touch in the penalty area (ooh, missus!) do nothing to stop the rot and Don Revie too would have a lot to answer for if he were still with us.

We were in the FS so fairly close.

Definite contact - I've seen far softer penalties given.

I think we probably got away with that one.

    .
I would never had passed in that position and it still just seems an odd thing for a striker to do !

I agree, the back heel wasn’t a bad decision. He was on his wrong foot and the keeper had covered his angle.
Glad they showed the goal came from the play out from Slocombe. He was getting hammered by the ‘gerrit gone’ brigade around me in the Kop. We also had two other attacks off the back of it…before he sliced one out for a throw.
