Goal scorer offside too
Double lucky then.🙄
I've not seen an image that shows he was 100%, definitely on-side when the shot is struck. VAR might clear it up but Wood is reaching back to meet the player, so I'm not convinced all of the player is on-side, unless Harding was playing him on.
Would VAR go back to the throw that wasn't theirs and the sending off that wasn't.
I said in the match thread before the sending off that the officials were under huge pressure from the home fans and we could expect a late home penner if a Burnley player went down etc. I'm sure the lino mistake was a honest error but he was so close to it, it is barely believable that he didn't see it. No excuses for our man losing focus with remonstrating leaving your fella free to receive the quick throw, that was just poor in the context of the game.
No complaints about the pressure on the refs though - that's what home advantage should be for and hope we'd all do the same if the positions were reversed. In light of your after match comments, haven't you guys ever been 1 up in the 2nd half at a big prem team and done whatever you could to slow the game down? Did you protest against your own team's tactics then? Thought not, but we're fans, and that's how it works innit?![]()
VAR wouldn't have gone back to the throw in, but would definitely have gone back to the 2nd yellow for the sending off.
I have done the refereeing and linesman in local football and I know I have got decisions like the throw in wrong, simply because of how the players react when it's been given.
Whilst it's frustrating, Wes is an experienced player and went to get the ball because he knew it was our throw, but that experience of his should have made him pick the ball up and and then given it them back when he got back into position, because we totally switched off knowing it was our throw and credit to them for catching us out with a quick throw. I know the game is gone but there are plenty of positives to take from it, and let's hope it's that Rotherham United that turn up against Norwich on saturday. UTM
It appears that Alex Ferguson passed his watch on to Kompany as a present.
Ronners, I was thinking the same, why didn't he just pick the ball up. It would have likely ended up in a bit of argy with their player as he fights to get the ball back of Harding, and a yellow card, but then he, Wiles and everyone else would have had time to set themselves.
Hopefully he'll learn from it, if Rathbone was on he definitely would have picked up the ball.
