Outstanding player and pretty much the perfect position to captain from. A bit old school but I worry when keepers or strikers are captain

You'd expect a captain to motivate players before a game and at half time, and to rebuke players who are making mistakes or underperforming during a game. MP does not strike me as that sort of player. He doesn't appear to be at all vocal.
Any captain is helped by players like MP, but that doesn't mean that players like MP bring leadership qualities themselves.
I'm thinking about players like Bryan Robson, Roy Keane, Terry Butcher, Kevin Ball etc
