Anyone else fed up with the way they enforce the handball rule these days? It used to be that handball had to be ?intentional? but now the rule seems to be ?your arms have to be in a natural position? to avoid a handball call. So now we are ending up with defenders jumping around the penalty box with their arms so firmly by their sides it?s like watching Riverdance. And if someone blasts the ball into your face from 2 yards away and it then it happens to hit your arm because you don?t want to look like a complete spare while you are jumping to block a shot then that?s hand ball. The natural position for your arms when you are jumping is for them to be flailing a bit, I don?t know how you can jump properly at all without your arms reacting to the inertia in some way.

The ref pretty well had to give the penalty today given the handball rule these days but it?s a very poor rule when it?s administered in such a ridiculous way. And I would feel the same if Plymouth had given up a similar penalty in our favour.

I think it should be for very clear, deliberate attempts to stop a goal with the hand.

You can't run with your hands at your side, so the idea that giving a penalty when a player shoots with force and it accidentally hits a blokes hand who is a few yards away is daft for me.

Maybe the officials should be forced to run with their arms firmly strapped to their sides for the FULL 90 minutes. It'd be interesting to know their thoughts after that !!!!!

I posted the same comment on a different thread. Regarding today, if I am correct, if the ball hits the body first and then the hand, it is not handball. It may have hit Styles on the left arm first but it was flat to his body so it was not a penalty and therefore when it hit his right arm, a penalty should not have been given as it was deflected.

There is a game starting at 16.45 at the Aviva Stadium where there will be lots of hand balls. Looking forward to it. Hoping for a better result than what was stumped up by the Baggies lunch time kick off.
