Let's have some names please...
Off the top of my head, I'd take Darren Ferguson.
I want to hear about how the club are going to undertake a full investigation into the fitness and recruitment processes. Scott should be sacked and a new approach to the recruitment and management of assets should be put in place. A new manager will not fix these bigger issues, and these issues in L2 will see us at the bottom of L2 next season. Some leadership from the top now is what we need not another journeyman manager that will be gone by Christmas.
Depends what you want in a manager...
Interim to hold L1, Neil Warnock.
Solid at our level, Mat Sadler.
Fancy a punt, Rhys McCabe.
Feeling optimistic, Will Still.
On the cheap, Richard Wood.
L2 beater, Darren Moore.
"Knows the club", David Artell.
Going poaching, Alex Revell.
Heart says someone like McCabe, or a bit of an upstart type figure. Head says a more experienced head purely because I know that fans will moan if we're not averaging two points per game in L2, so we need someone ready to deal with that noise.
There will never be a pick that suits everyone, so probably just play safe to appease the widest selection of noisy fans.
Will Still then please. He's dating Emma Saunders from Sky. It'd be nice to see her at the NYS. Oh yes.
Luckily Joey Barton might be in jail because in the past there have been one or two notables on here who have put his name forward.
I don't envy those in charge of making the appointment as RUFC/Rotherham is hardly an attractive proposition. However, most seasoned football managers are also mercenaries so no doubt there will be the usual list of 'stellar' candidates.
Criminal if the club have not had an instant replacement lined up for this predictable eventuality.
I'm hoping Revell and Clough would consider coming to our sinking ship, but acting too late has probably scuppered that. Why would they in all probability want to drop down a division? (Apart from money coming from Mr Stewart's wallet. Or not).
I think Robbie Savage might have a decent future in management. He would command respect from the players, would be a good motivator, and raise the club's profile. He would certainly put some fire in bellies, which we desperately need, and shake us up. A proto Warnock.
The downside would be his media commitments
The main thing is to dispose of the current coaching staff as quickly as possible. I hope they don't linger on as in times past but it wouldn't surprise me
Clough but think it will be Ferguson or Ryan Lowe maybe.
Obviously very early but latest odds are here. Darren Ferguson current favourite...
