Wentworth Woodhouse was featured on a TV program here the other day and they said it was in.....wait for it......wait for it......Rotherham!

It was on Canadian TV and OK it was an episode of Escape to the Country (ITV? Channel 4? BBC?) but I fully expected them to say something other than Rotherham.

Good shout. Always love visiting the Park. If it was the same park, but in London it would be a Hipster paradise!

Second good thing it’s not in Sheffield - sorry couldn’t resist

The good thing is that it’s on relatively high ground so many parts of eastern England will be reclaimed by the sea before Rotherham

You say not Sheffield but BBC Look North reported this from Sheffield not Rotherham

I was born and bred in Canklow, I really was. I was born on Rotherview Road, number 69 to be exact.

My Nan and Grandad were the first tenants of their house on Town Street and lived there for over 50 years.

I went to Canklow Woods Primary school, there I received a good education, learned to play the euphonium and several other instruments.

I became a really good footy player under the stewardship of Mr Kenneth Knowles who was the Headmaster theit and a great man. He was also heavily involved in Rotherham Boys, who I played for.

Is Canklow one of the best things in Rotherham?

Who knows but it certainly didn't do me any harm. I've done really well in life and I know many others born and bred there who have done the same.

    The people (in general).

Seriously, you will not meet more grounded, self effacing, genuinely warm people anywhere in the world.

You/we are a great bunch. Keep it up fellow Rotherhamites. 👍

Riley, my late Father in Law ( Mangham family) was born and raised on Rotherview Road born in 37 so might be well before your time.

He went on to have a good life for himself and later moved to Brinsworth. Not everything folk say about Canklow is true.

Indeed, I had a great time visiting the Museum. I was a schoolkid last time I was there and it was a pleasure to walk round the old place again and to see that Nelson and the two-bodied cat etc are still there. Very friendly people and everything spotless and well cared for. Well worth a visit, in fact worth more than one visit. Special mention to Brin for suggesting the visit, giving me a guided tour, and also for taking me there x
