Interesting that 59, I'll see if I can dig out what I read about the trials, but it was a while ago now. Maybe they've discovered by accident it stops you getting it, but from what I read they weren't aiming for that, and it was quoting from the drug companies own reports.

I also don't know the answer, however, I thought that the aim of the vaccine would be to make milliions of dollars for its manufacturers.

Pfizer claimed they invented Viagra by accident too sinkov. They were hoping to find a drug that would de-sludge heart arteries, but found taking a tablet gave the taker a hard on instead.

That being the case, will an injection to stop one getting Corona virus result in a permanent erection? If so sign me up.

59 been busy today hope this helps

All vaccines aim to stimulate the bodies immune system to generate antibodies and T cells that will kill any corona virus that gets into the body. This one is unusual as it uses part of the genetic RNA to do that, usually you can be given a live virus that has been made less virulent, or a killed virus. It’s trial and error to see what works.

This one poses logistic issues as it has to be stored in a deep freeze at -80 deg C so that will be a challenge for transportation and distribution to those injecting it.

I heard that the 90% success related to around 90 patients. So it needs more work.
I think the brains behind this is in BioNtech the German company with Pfizer having the manufacturing and testing capacity. It was a deliberate action not serendipitous.

OC-- your penultimate sentence is correct and even that is subject to further analysis. Perhaps we shall have to wait a little longer before the world is saved.

interesting reading Colner....thanks for the info - saves me looking at the latest Gov updates !

....am sure you'll be first in line for the jab...or did you apply to be a guinea pig ?.....must say, I will be a little concerned for you, with those billions paid out by big pharma for all those Serious side effects...and then those nasty reactions of mixing the chemical cocktails, already on something ?....but haven't the big pharma's been given indemnity ?....thats' good for "them" - imagine that bill if things go pear shaped, - and when you think, is thought necessary that clinical trials should run to about 5+ years, and if it passed muster... you'd need that again before it could be properly distributed - clinical trial after clinical trial after clinical trial...Slowly increasing the strength - then If successful, there's the registration, then the licensing - pre-clincical to launch etc....takes Years of work...but, even then, can all amount to nothing - as we know, vaccine success is only around the 20% mark.... .
Thankfully, we have the Govs own Chris Whitty to settle the fear... that other than a very small minority, this bug is much ado about nothing, so doubt the large majority will need a jab, though as we know, folk regularly take more than they...need.

Just been having my daily look at the Covid figures, and as the 2nd wave ravages the country, here's an update on how we're doing in the North West.

Hospital admissions in the North West peaked on October 29th with 340 new admissions, since then the numbers have been falling,

    Oct 29th...340
    Oct 30th...256
    Oct 31st...280
    Nov 1st...293
    Nov 2nd...288
    Nov 3rd...277
    Nov 4th...312
    Nov5th...247,

And so, with hospital admissions on a downward curve, the government decided to introduce Lockdown 2, putting thousands of people out of work and destroying god knows how many more struggling businesses........in order to get hospital admissions on a downward curve.

What news of the poor buggers dying from Covid, or more accurately, those dying from anything at all, but within 28 days of a positive Covid test. Good news there as well. In the week from Oct 28th to Nov 4th, the eve of Lockdown 2, the 7 day average death rate had fallen in 9 of the 14 Lancashire Local Authorities, it was stable in 3 and had risen in just 2, West Lancashire and Pendle.

And so, with the numbers dying on a downward curve, the government decided to introduce Lockdown 2, putting thousands of people out of work and destroying god knows how many more struggling businesses.........in order to get the numbers dying on a downward curve.

I can't help feeling that someone is taking the piss.

Latest news..."In north-west England, 2,948 hospital patients with confirmed Covid-19 were reported on November 9.

This is 58 higher than the first-wave peak of 2,890 on April 13."

Not great news, whatever way you read it.
