You have a core of decent players - what is your youth set up like?
Gentlemen,
Having read your comments from the last few games and backwards, seen the mentioned issiues myself and discussed the matter with fellow-clarets, there are some facts that we all are aware of. I won't do the whole list..
1. The team is aging
2. The lack of creativity and pace (usually)
3. SDs reluctance to do changes (e.g. subs, tactical-approach etc.)
4. The depth in the squad
The list continues and we all know this because we see it just about every match. This isn't as a thread for critism since it won't do any good or even help other than to air the frustration. One thing we can also agree on is that there won't be any huge changes in the lineup, squad or approach because of reasons we've all discussed a huge number of times.
With the apparently limited budget and access to strengthening the squad, what can be done do make the squad work as good as it can with the available rescourses? We all know that we won't get ten players out and in, along with a massive money-spending in Chelsea or City-style.
So let's take this scenario as an example (which by the way is quite probable). It's 1.st September 2021:
- Mostly the same squad as we have today
- Tarkowski moves on, around £20m
- Three or four signings during the summer (some 1.st team, some reserve)
- Five or more youngsters signed
- Five or more youngsters take the step up from the youth to U18-U23
- Stadiums still with no fans
Give or take a player (or two). Let us be realistic, where else can the team add valuable additions?
Add to the staff?
Passing coach? (We're not excatly tika-taka and a lot of the passing we do is a bit below the par, if I may say so)
Tactical coach? (Would help the understanding and anticipation)
Techical coach? (Overall a good investment)
We're good at defending, maybe a more attacking minded coach?
It might a bit Football Manager-inspired, but at the same time surely expanding the coaching staff must benefit in the short and long term?

Our youth set up is now excellent h.o. We are getting good results in the various leagues we are playing in. Mumbongo and Benson are in the first team squad, but as we all know it's a quantum leap from the Development Squad to becoming an established EPL player.
Patience and time will tell.
Tactical coach, is that for the players or Mr. Dyche?
Posted this many times going right back to relegation and then to promotion again that Dyche would need to learn to change shape , alter personnel and have the ability to step back and see situation s developing in front of him ( I realise that this is me criticising a premiership manager ).
I've played at a good level and played for tactically aware managers who saw things and changed to counteract ( that's at counties level - not premiership ).
Dyche is still very rigid 442 and built defensive, but to his credit to now he's kept us in this league .
May be some of that is down to our limited squad and he feels see get murdered outside his rigidity.
I'm more for players who can play expressing themselves , even when that means cocking up or losing possession , against Brighton it looked to me like he just released the reigns two notches and we looked a different proposition.
The game before at Chelsea he left Peters exposed to Hudson Odio with no cover at all from Brady or McNeil , did he see it ? Did he think what we produced was acceptable ? Who knows.
What I do know is as above he keeps pulling out of the hat , it isn't pretty but he seems to keep us up.
The season we came up after getting walloped at Hull 3-0 on Boxing Day, SD proved he can change styles and win playing great football.
Why he sticks with this Catenaccio (Italian pronunciation: [kateˈnattʃo]) or The Chain is a tactical system in football with a strong emphasis on defence is beyond me.
In Italian, catenaccio means "door-bolt", which implies a highly organised and effective backline defence focused on nullifying opponents' attacks and preventing goal-scoring opportunities. We get it Sean, but let the dogs loose every now and then please mate?
Another Italian defensive phrase " Parcheggio dell'autobus"
