I won't repeat my lingering doubts for fear of reprisals from our resident apologists, but I hope we can continue to build on this really rather decent start as our injured players return.
Isn’t the club apologists line getting a bit old now coupled with the fact it’s not accurate too?
The squads better than last year overall, it’s not being a club apologists accepting the clubs not going to get top quality in every position including back ups unless they’re going to spend silly money.

What are the resident apologists actually apologising for? The start to the season? The recruitment?

I am totally lost by this repeated comment maybe The Pie Man can provide an explanation?

I think it's a throwaway term in response to anyone daring to criticise being called a bedwetter.

I'm somewhere in the middle, which makes me an apologising bedwetter!

It’s certain thrown away lots by one person whatever they intend it to mean.

I hear that comes with age so although not pleasant and a little embarrassing it’s not unusual.

They’re the ones still happy apparently if we lose 150-0 and would watch traffic cones if they were black and white (pedalled out a few times too). I think it’s an attempt to degrade people that don’t agree with their views, still not sure what they are though???

I think all the apologists are in the middle, to date I don’t think anyone’s said the club has a squad that’s nailed on for promotion and the club get everything right, they just don’t cast constant doom and gloom and in some cases before a balls even kicked.

It's supposed to make them feel like Simple Simons.

They can call George Byers, a man who's played 7 games in this league the 'best' all they want - facts are Jodi is literally the best player in the league as voted for by his peers, completely different levels. I'd also argue Vale's expensively assembled squad will obviously deal with the loss of a big player better.

As for our form since the Bromley game - look at the team sheet compared to now 'unless something changes' , well it will , we will have some essential players back. To be still in the top 3 considering is good work from Stu and the team imo. Especially considering the run of fixtures and travelling.
Some fair points in there, but again, I don’t know why you’re exaggerating how good or otherwise people said the likes of Port Vale are. They’re the in form team at the moment (on the back of losing their best player) whether it lasts or not we’ll see, but I think they’ve got enough quality to stay the course.

As for us, we’re one of the biggest clubs in the league, with presumably a budget to match, so it seems pretty poor to me that we’re pinning all our hopes on the return of one player, probably in about 3 months. As you say we’re doing well to be currently in the top 3. Performances don’t suggest we’ll stay there very long though.

Not very many eggs put in the attacking basket and it only takes DM or AJ to get a crack before Christmas and your last sentence will come to fruition.

Totally agree we shouldn’t be relying on JJs return. I think the key is getting CM right, I’d put Abbott there as he’s always played very well when he’s played the sitting role which is his natural position and I’m pretty certain he will even get better as the season goes on. WB does worry me a little, really need to see if Martin can challenge the starting line up and I honestly think Brown may well work out, well hoping at least.
