No real surprises overall. Sad to see Sam Austin go, hopefully he stays in L2.

Austin put in a shift and worked hard but he was slow and couldn?t beat a man, we can do much better. Best of luck to him.

Thinking exactly the same. You'd expect a comment at least wishing players well, thanking them for their efforts while they've been here.

The absence of that gives me hope he's gone.

It's *interesting* there's no quotes from Maynard up on the official site about the retained list. Even as a head coach rather than a manager, you'd normally expect to see something from him about the players moving on if Maynard was staying.

Right decisions on all players. Austin is not league 2 standard. Never has been. Just gets shoehorned into the side. How he played ahead of Jarvis Is ridiculous. Especially if they knew he was going to be gone.

Hopefully we can get rid of Edwards as well.

My gut is telling me he's gone. The club will keep it quiet and announce his departure and a new head coach on the same day. But I've been wrong before...

The retained list statement from last season was from the BoD too. But did explicitly mention Maynard.

But you are right, the 2023 statement came from Williams.

I think Sam Austin has been a victim of circumstance really, he is very much a competent squad player that can be an asset due to the number of positions he can fill, however, we are already carrying too many squad fillers in the midfield options with Hinchy and Edwards for starters being under contract. Neither are as good as Austin.
I was sure last summer Edwards was only given a one year deal when we announced his signing.
There are far too many under contract that have flattered to deceive this past season with their performances and I am surprised some of those under contract have not been made available for transfer.
