After the way he ditched us last time, no thanks.

I actually think SM may well take a lot from this experience and work his way back up, but right from day one he seemed to have imposter syndrome and tried to mask it by using rehearsed football nonsense phrases. The whole look thing was slightly annoying but most folks have these gap fill words when public speaking (anyone under 30 these days seems to use the word like to fill silences in sentences so that is fair enough). It became intolerable at the point where every interview had the same phrases to play Maynard bingo with. When we cross the white line, we need to create an overload, committed from minute one, managing minutes, this group always bounce back, bodies back on the grass, great to have him in the building, good for the football club (we know it is a football club, so you can just say club) etc etc. We could tick them off the bingo card. It basically made him sound inauthentic and lacking any charisma and if he gets another shot then he should dispense with this nonsense and just be himself, which is probably a nice bloke with a good coaching brain.

Tbf LW pedalled out the same interviews for us and he did at Swansea.

On LW I?m a bit split, I think it will certainly give the club an initial boost but in L2 it was a bit all over the place under him but certainly a better watch at home.
If he does come I don?t want any of this ?I love this club I want to be here forever? rubbish, just do your job and leave the club loving bit to us.

Just a thought who compiled the retained list, was it the new D.O.F, as he's been to every game since he agreed to take the job taking notes

I'm a bit split on Luke Williams as well, I certainly think the fans generally would be onboard but what people need to remember is despite the protestations of many things WERE starting to slip under him last time and if he came back I reckon the owners would have to back him heavily because that's the real reason he left last time, he wanted two defenders in January and it wasn't happening.

His other issue is he hasn?t got any ball playing defenders in the squad, well not to the point of keeping the ball in at all costs which was definitely his remit.
The more I think about it the more I probably want someone else but at the same time I wouldn?t be disappointed either.

I'd guess that we've had someone in mind for a while
Let's be honest Stuart was a lovely bloke but more experienced managers had worked us out long ago, especially at ML
We as fans knew it so it's unsurprising that the hierarchy did too
I don't know who it is but I'd guess it won't be someone from the usual merry go round of L1 & L2 managers

agree. Basically an experiment that didn't pay off. Respect the Bros for their bravery, but I think the next choice will be a bit more realistic - from a list that most of us (and the bookies) can't guess at.

You have to wonder a bit about the timing though. The right new mgmt team in January could have produced different results this season. I think the timing of the DoF change probably limited their options.

Good luck to SM, hope he finds a more sustainable path to his career.

Yeah, that's his job rather than the head coach. However, when we appoint a new head coach, he'll get a say (not the final word, but definitely a say) in who we move on, which is probably why there was no mention of retained players being listed for transfer.

Anyway I'm looking forward to a woman taking on the role, surely there is one around who has gained a promotion
I was for once in my life being politically correct 😂 in saying that the woman who is in charge of the England ladies could do a much better job than Maynard ! I would like to see someone who has ability to have more than just plan A who can react to the game and change the format. Also can motivate and instil confidence. We also need an experienced coaching staff and at least 6 or more experienced players in midfield and attack in my opinion of course !!
