We've been making basic defensive errors all season and Jim simply hasn't f*cking dealt with it. He has to change it or he's toast in my opinion.
Its simple arithmetic really,if your central defenders are all unreliable play 2 instead of 3.That should reduce errors by 33%.

The other thing is that with the obsession/requirement to play a central three, you need the squad numbers in order to be able to do that consistently. So consequently we have Bert, Iovu, KK, Graham, SCH and Vicko potentially as CH’s. If we’d just been playing a back 4, we’d have likely only needed 4 CHs to cover the positions adequately. So by going down this road and prioritising the back 3 over everything else, we’ve reduced the dough available to strengthen other areas that would have needed strengthened i.e. the middle of the park.

It has quite a few times, we were second from having beat Celtic and Rangers at Tannadice in space of a couple weeks etc

Our main issues this season is goalkeeper error's and poor defending at set plays etc, Wednesday was no different, a good performance with 3 at the back

And also no real consistency of selection all season due to injuries and the like, even now we are hindered now with the likes of Sevelj available and those suspension

    All very stop start too

Last season we got to 3rd by January playing mostly 3 at the back but we had a steady goal keeper and were not giving away many set pieces goals and had more consistency of selection

I'd like to see us switch it up a bit more but it's not really the formation, the players individually cost us on Wednesday with first Ferry giving away a needless free kick by getting too close to the boy who was going nowhere and then the goalie not dealing with the ball in

What is clear for me, we should stick with Goodwin and let him get through this spell, we won't go down and we'll knows how the cup can go, the club needs the stability, not too rip it up due to short term thinking and frustration

You're doing that thing that you do again, twisting stats to suit your purpose. Just look at the amount of goals we've conceded, the shortage of clean sheets, the amount of daft free kicks your three CBs are giving away in the first place, not to mention the fact that despite having 3 big lumps in there they can't get the ball clear. We need to defend better higher up the pitch and to do that we need to have that extra man in the middle of the park instead of standing in front of the f*cking keeper. To reiterate, it's not working!

A good performance maybe but zero points picked up again. I was a backer of Goodwin but he has changed my mind because it is every phuckin game he goes 343, no wonder we get picked off, so predictable. If he does get punted shortly it is his own fault and thoroughly deserved.

I don't think that its a coincidence that we are losing goals and struggling to score with the formation we are playing.

How many times have we heard "individual errors at the back" and "lacking quality in the final third"?

Either way..we either need to get the players in that fix these problems or change the way we play to fix these problems....both of which, we haven't done.

We are quite good at getting the ball in midfield and getting it down the wings...that's it!

Scoring goals and not losing them is what wins games!

The window is closed...so we need to at least try a plan B!

No gonna get into an argument regarding formations but just let this sink in.

Man U managed by one of the most sought after coaches in europe and a league winner with Sporting(Amorim) will only play 3 at the back and is a total failure.

He is replaced by Michael Carrick who was sacked by Middlesbrough in his only managerial role,he switches to 4 2 3 1 and Man U win 4 games in a row including wins away at Arsenal and at home to Man City.

There is no way that Carrick is a better coach than Amorim so its got to come down to the formation he changed to for the results to improve so rapidly.

Well the results that Carrick has got speaks volumes. He reads the room and if going by results he is winning, so is the better coach. Football is a game where scoring more goals than your opponent means you pick up three points or progress in cups. Arrogant ****s stick to formations that invite stick and still they don't change the bleeding obvious.
