But it's usually a story hyped up by the media .So I take it you don't eat salmon, tuna, cod etc because they are all taken out of their environment I've fished all my life ,never killed one but in many times I've caught the same fish within minutes of returning it . If it wasn't for the 1.8 million fishing licence holders who pour millions of pounds into the Environment agency coffers , anglers are the ones who report pollution and poaching which believe me is in a massive scale with Eastern Europeans who poach in a massive scale because they eat all and any fish I'm not trying to protect fishing because I know it's highly emotive subject I just think people should look beyond the media hype
You're correct in my lack of knowledge about fishing mista and I am aware of various studies saying that it doesn't harm the fish. Its just that my logic tells me that a living animal having a hook in its flesh on the inside of its mouth and then struggling against the hook, to escape, must suffer from some physical and/or mental truma, if it has some kind of brain.

I'm aware that the upper classes love their fishing also, but my point is that banning fishing would be as popular as banning football in this country, it is a sport of the general masses.
