We still went to school in short trousers school pullover and blazzer cap and wellies in our day. Our long socks used to roll down and we’d get chaffed at the back of our legs. We also wore woollen hand knitted gloves and balaclavas which used to get damp and soggy. Top coat was as duffel if you could afford one. Also a useless leather bag called a Satchell our fingers too cold to open the buckles! In 63 there was trenches made along the paths which were almost as tall as me. Milk was always frozen on the doorsteps.
