Derby County said to be lodging an appeal against the automatic 12 point deduction,
handed out for going into administration.
Derby County case for appeal is based on owner Mel Morris's belief that the move
to call in the administrators, was caused by the lack of gate receipts, as a consequence
of the coronavirus pandemic.
The cost of the appeal is said to be expected to set the administrators back £300,000
in legal fees.
It is hoped, if the appeal is successful, the club will be docked 6 points, instead of the
usual fixed amount of 12 points for clubs, who go into administration.
Summary - Derby County trying every avenue to try & beat the EFL rules, the owner
blaming the loss of gates receipts, due to the pandemic.
What about division 1 & 2 clubs, who were most hit with gate receipts, at least Derby
County like all championship clubs got television appearance money, & over £6m
for being in the championship.
I have said in other posts about Derby County Chief Executive Stephen Pearce, who
was on the EFL board, until he resigned this year, he will have knowledge of all
the rules & ins & outs of the system.
If the appeal is allowed, it goes to a independent panel to decide.
