It is depressing that it has come to this. We all crave success for the Tangerines, but in reality our only real chance of meaningful success is our stabs at the two main cups. We are reported to be the 6th biggest club in Scotland, so on paper 6th or above is our real place. Apart from winning the main title once, our best finish in the main league is 3rd on a very few occasions. Fourth or below is our usual standard. Winning the SFPL title, or even finishing second, are pie in the sky dreams.

We have got to many semi-finals and finals in both of the nation's main cups and this is where our main stabs at real success lies. The threat of relegation nullifies the importance of both the cups for us due to survival issues. We should not diminish the importance or value of either of the cups. Look at Cint J? Two seasons ago they lifted both cups, a unique achievement for a non OF Club, especially for one that had a relatively average season otherwise. Look at them now though.

I have supported United for many years. I enjoyed their cup successes, their reaching of semis and finals, etc. Our current position in the league is desperate (at the moment). It's too early to say that our recent league results are signs of a stable recovery. We rode our luck against Aberdeen and Hibs and in last night's League Cup encounter I clearly saw that Killie were the better side overall and thoroughly deserved their win. No I haven't been eating Killie pies, nor have I been talking to that radge Killie Supporter who posted profane youtubes about his Club in their pre-relegation years.

I would like to end by saying 'onwards and upwards,' but I am feeling increasingly flat by all things United.
