Just had a Quick Look through their league results/stats so far this season. Interestingly they’ve only once had the lions share of possession, and that is against what is looking like a weak Morecambe side…and that was only just in their favour.

They seem to concede more efforts on goal than what they create but they are pretty clinical with those chances they do get. It looks like they concede a lot of shots on goal but they seem to have a pretty stingy defence. Whether they limit their opponents to long range efforts, just have a great goalie, or so far have rode their luck, it isn’t clear why they haven’t conceded more. Perhaps Notts will be able capitalise on the chances that other teams haven’t so far been able to do.

I haven’t seen them play, but their low possession stats suggest to me they play a direct style of football. This concerns me a bit, teams very rarely play through us but those long balls through the middle have caught us flat footed numerous times already and if we’re not careful they look to have the players that can capitalise all too willingly.

If Platt and Bedeau in particular can dominate their forwards and win their battles early I think we’ll be in business, if they don’t then I think we could see a score draw on Saturday…probably 2-2….and probably some defensive blunders or misunderstandings on our behalf from a simple ball over the top!
