Unfortunately RA, the nuance of Casey's report is again lost by right wing bigots focussing on race as a factor purely to push their anti immigrant/foreigner agenda.

The bile spewed by our dim red friend, who obviously just repeats verbatim what's spewed out of the right wing media is not what is required here.

As you rightly say, anybody associated with the last 14 years of Troy government can STFU, they had ample time to act. As for the others, they have no care for the victims, just to make political capital from something to further their agenda.

As I posted a while back and as Casey states in her report, the principle issue here is the way the victims were viewed by the authorities as being complicit themselves, there is an example where one very young victim was actually charged for prostitution FFS!

Thats not to dismiss that there is a racial element, but the main reason it was allowed is the view from social workers, police and other authorities that did not value the victims as people worthy of attention, they were and in many cases still are the unfortunates ignored by society as a whole unless as in this case there is political capital to be made from them.

Labour commissioned Casey's report and have acted on it, the acid test of course will be what action has been taken within the next 6 - 12 months. But for people to be slagging off the government for firstly commissioning a report to establish the facts and to act on its recommendations (one of which incidentally was that the proposed local enquiries would not be robust enough to uncover all the salient facts) is frankly bizarre.

But then as is well known, its the empty vessels that make the most noise, usually about things they haven't a clue about other than what they have read or heard about.
