[quote="stamfordram"]Bobby Davison was one of my favourite Rams strikers - was fast and a very powerful striker - was very different to Chris Martin who relies on a very adept touch and clever positional play. Bobby didn't have the cultured touch of Chris Martin but used to torment defenders with raw pace and power. He became a real cult figure at the Baseball Ground and to me it felt like return of the 'king' when he came back for a loan spell - I seem to remember he scored on his first game back and I was amazed when he wasn't signed permanently again.

I must admit when Chris Martin first arrived at Derby I wasn't convinced - he looked slow and immobile but now MaClaren has transformed him into the pivotal player in our team and I dread to think what would happen if we lost him to injury.

Started me thinking about me favourite Rams strikers - think I would go for:

    1. Hector
    2. Davison
    3. Saunders
    4. George
    5. Wanchope

Martin is great at the moment but

Steve was a great player. I remember him well

I used to know Angus Morrison. He was a decent player too.

Maybe old but never saw Stamps or Bloomer!

Strangely enough O'Hare was not dissimilar to Martin but still wouldn't depose any of my original 5.

Enjoyed watching Swindlehurst but not in the same class - you have reminded me of another of my favourites - Alan Biley! Remember him scoring a hat trick vs Bristol City to go from 0-2 to 3-2 - obviously we conceded to draw 3-3 but he was great - think he was sold to Everton

    Angus Morrison?
Was he the guy who used to keep his pipe, an ounce of shag and a nip of Johnnie Walker Red Label in his socks ready for half time?

    Forgot about Biley.

Dropping down the list a bit, I quite enjoyed watching Richie Barker play (Ok quite a bit down the list)

    That's the guy.

His passion in later life was training greyhounds

Bobby D for me every time. Was my hero when I was young. Goal machine. I alsod my son after him which of course makes me a bit more biased. But in saying that I love chris Martin. Best striker we've had in years. Deano was another favourite ( Saunders ) But the signed picture above my son's bed of Bobby to Bobby will always have him as my favourite

Look at the shocking side Davison played in and the lack of almost anything in support and he just carried on banging them in!!!!

Was it a fluke ... well he came back and garried on from where he left off ... and some for those 9 games was it.

Time and factors considered there is no comparison that Davison deliver when very few others couldnt in the same situation.

In my memory (circa '92 onwards):

    1. Sturridge
    2. Wanchope
    3. Bainno
    4. Martin
    5. Gabbiodini

Martin will go straight to number 1 if he bags another 20 this season. He can have my babies too
