Yes in hindsight it appears McClaren thought he was giving clever politician type answers that the dumb supporters would not be able to interpret. How arrogant. What a disapointment.

As I said before i'm not slagging the guy off as I really like him and wish he was still our manager but he couldn't/wouldn't commit and ultimately our owners it appears from the outside anyway took exception to this, he's done a Clarkson and ate the chicken that was about to lay a golden egg or whatever the saying said!

[quote="swaledale"]The buck stops at the manager. Based on the likelihood that Rush was involved in Steve mcclarens appointment he must accept some blame. Therefore, if the next appointment doesn't get us promoted surely he should also have his contract terminated. It's only fair! If mcclarens target was promotion and he failed and lost his job, then next season we should also be aiming for promotion and bye bye Rush - if not it perhaps shows that something else has gone off and I don't mean the fact he wasn't clear about the Newcastle situation but no-one in football ever is. How many times have players said I'm committed to derby or whoever and the transfer window opens and he's off, how many chairman have said we have no intention of looking for a new manager, after a poor season (the old dreaded vote of confidence) and next minute he's sacked. In fact come to think about it, didn't Rush say something abo

To be fair to Mac we see quite a few of such supporters everyday!!!!

Maybe there were a number of reasons for his responses.

    1. He was sending a message to other clubs?

    2. He was keeping his options open?

    3. He was sending a message to Derby board as maybe a bargaining tactic?

    4. He was being told his position was under threat if we didn't get promotion and sending a message to the fans?

    5. He's just a very bad public speaker?

Could be one, a number or none of the above. Doesn't change the fact that a simple confirmation or honest direct answer wouldn't have put to bed.

For me doesn't change a thing Rush is accountable for his hires and their performance and behaviour. As in any business. He and vicars have been very quick to go

Well i never rush came to this club as part of the 5 year plan to get us into the premier league.
We felt the cost cutting and slow improvement had to be done, after a 12 and then 10th league place finish
we felt a promotion push a must.
Mr Rush sacked the manager, renamed the stadium, and convinced the board this action was necessary,
He changed the concept of the club, from a manager to a director of football and a headcoach and changed the scouting set up.He then brought in Steve maclaren and his team of coaches.
    All at a considerable cost.
Like Clough at shefield and Maclaren at Derby he has failed in his duty for the club,If we are not carefull he will go down in our history with TheThree Amigos
