In support of Sam Rush all he wants is Derby to suceed. He is commited to that and makes decisions. With clough he could see he had taken the club as far as he could, the style of play was boring and there was no way he was going to get us promoted.
He took a considered gamble on Mac, like the FA. and initially it worked. Exciting football, respected by other managers, called a great coach. But when it became clear that, like clough he was very inflexible, only had one method of playing and poor at picking unproven players to sign again Rush held his hands up and didn't daly got rid.
Sam's next big decison though is ***** for him and the club. Again its a gamble whether to take an unproven assistant coach as manager in the hope he's found the right man. Only time will tell.

Whatever Mr Rush does and whoever he now employs as our next manager he has my full support.
As for Maclaren, I don't all of a sudden dislike the guy, failure to get us promoted was not the only reason for his sacking IMO, I believe and its only my opinion that not fully ruling himself out of the Newcastle job carried more weight than promotion.
Sky released a statement from him tonight and he said he reiterated 3 times that he was committed to Derby, well the way I saw it he only did this when Newcastle looked to be relegated or when Ashley decided on carver seeing the season out, he had 6 months to 100% commit himself to Derby not 6 days, its a shame as I quite liked the guy and I thought he was the man to take us up and keep us there.
Bet he's kicking himself now for not ruling himself out sooner

The inference is that Mel Morris made the decision to fire McClaren.
Yes Sky reported that Maclaren was sacked by the clubs 'new owner' Mel Morris!Originally Posted by vanderlaans_header
Correctly me if I'm wrong but could you be a chairman but still not own the club? I thought he became chairman but the americans still owned us? Or have they sold the club to him hence he's now chairman?

The buck stops at the manager. Based on the likelihood that Rush was involved in Steve mcclarens appointment he must accept some blame. Therefore, if the next appointment doesn't get us promoted surely he should also have his contract terminated. It's only fair! If mcclarens target was promotion and he failed and lost his job, then next season we should also be aiming for promotion and bye bye Rush - if not it perhaps shows that something else has gone off and I don't mean the fact he wasn't clear about the Newcastle situation but no-one in football ever is. How many times have players said I'm committed to derby or whoever and the transfer window opens and he's off, how many chairman have said we have no intention of looking for a new manager, after a poor season (the old dreaded vote of confidence) and next minute he's sacked. In fact come to think about it, didn't Rush say something about this but just said something about not being draconian etc
Hmmmm, makes ya think!
