A very average manager who I hope has a little step back and looks at what he is doing.
spot on angry. there are some football fans and board members that believe there's more to football than simply results. entertainment is a big factor.

I know several blades ST holders and they've all said the same thing which was what the vast majority of derby fans say. achieved stability but at the cost of boring football and negative tactics.

Most of you warned us what would happen and you were spot on!!!!

He messed up pre season signed higdon at the last minute made him capt and dropped 2 senior players capt and vice captain and a main signing andy butler was shut out in the cold...

Awful negative football losing to Crewe and fleetwood (no disrespect)

    Blaming the fans the players

Played 5 months without a centre half

The list could go on, I don't like sacking mangers every year but it's Nigel's fault on this one after rescuing us and getting us to fa cup semi in his first few months.

I dont think there was a Derby fan who did not want Clough to suceed..
I guess stubborness is a prerequisite to being a good manager but it can also be a huge negative.
Lets be fair entertainment is everythi

To be fair to Nigel, his backroom and advisors are not the best...
Mind you thats his fault he never changed them.
Would be nice to see The Blades back up with us..

Just thought I'd add my view on it too as a blade since from the outside it appears to be a harsh sacking. Most fans at Derby and United know better though. His negative football was the worst I've seen in my time as a blade (35 years) given the budget he was afforded. He bombed out several players never to even appear on the bench (until we got major injuries and he had no choice) and two of them he signed this pre season!

His criticism of certain players in the press really annoyed me, but not as much as the 4-5-1 formation which relies on goalscoring mid fielders to make up the goals that you're not getting from a secon

We wanted him to succeed as well, but

'boring, negative football', you said it, and dear oh dear, you were right. You have to wonder what goes through his head sometimes. His old man he is not.

For those commenting on loyalty the irony is Clough is one of the few managers around that shows any of that.

As go an average manager picking up a league one side third from bottoms and taking them to two major semi finals and the play offs in 18 months is average!!!! Can anyone give an example of any other manager that has achieved that in such a period ever in history???

How can i back peddle? I predicted back in august we had a good chance of a top 6 finish and

I can't tell you how happy I was when we sacked him. He thoroughly, thoroughly deserved it and only the ignorant could say it was harsh.

Aside from all the bad management and negativity he is just one hell of a petulant, arrogant, deluded and stubborn little man.

We call him Funny Little Nigel.

Hopefully he finds his way back to non league (at best) very very soon.
