Easy tiger, I did say I was only kidding!!!
I hope your right that it takes some pressure of PC, but it could very easily add pressure too. I'm not a fan of the heavy spending approach we seem to have taken, I understand we need to spend a bit to strengthen but £20m is a huge amount of money. Did we really need both signings today? There must be a huge pressure on the whole club to get promotion now.

Hasn't it always been the way in football that teams improve by buying other teams best players. Home grown talent is usually the exception not the rule. So what people are criticising is not the principle but the amount being spent. But to get the better players and progress you have to pay more. I don't know what the answer is - but with JB and BJ we should be OK!

Its not the spending of the money that worries me , more WHO is taking the decisions about who is brought in and WHO is the team builder? Not convinced that we have a chief coach/manager who is the architect.

Why does this thread show the true supporter has gone Rattea??
Like it or not, Sky are pumping vast amounts of money into the game! This in turn has forced prices up for players. I can't say I like where football is going, but that's how it is! It's no good reminiscing about watching derby through the 80,s hard times, as we've all been there!!
That was then and this is now!
2 quality footballers brought in, and I for one appreciate that!
Besides true supporters don't boycot home games do they??

There's no reminiscing about the 80s but I have always questioned the likes of Man City or Chelsea (who my dad supported and lost interest due to money) can think they've worked hard to earn any success. And why many love to see teams like that fail.

Just because some clubs are doing it doesn't mean it's right.

It's like kids with their first car. People don't really respect those that have silly cars that mummy and daddy buy for them. But the kids that work hard and save and get their own do.

To me it's poor management of the club and attempted short circuiting of the system.

I totally respect and am pleased for the club and fans of Bournemouth as I was Blackpool as the majority of the football word are. What they both achieved is what it's all about and regardless of being in the past or now it oooozes romance.

Now think about clubs like fester, Wigan, QPR, and Cardiff for example. Dispised by the majority of fans and no real respect for any achievement because i

Just a different perspective to R&R...the 2 Mods.
Appreciate your take on money spoiling the game etc, but times have changed and the days of a team of local lads with a couple of 'exotic' Scottish imports being competitive have sadly gone.

Given all that has happened, i.e. we'd already spent £10m only to see Hughes immediately out for the best part of the season and questions arise about Thorne's fitness - personally I think the guys done well to start five matches in August seeing as he's only played about a dozen in the last two seasons - then what are the owners supposed to do?

They could do nothing and think, well this side isn't going up without Hughes and a fit Thorne...what a waste of £10m...or they could think, we've already invested £10m but the job stands little chance of completion without further investment and do something about it.

Thankfully, I hope, they've chosen the latter option and we're now in with a very good shout, and to put it in further perspective,

Too right Anagram. Do we want to be involved in the PL or not?

If we do, vast sums of money are now necessary to help achieve that goal.

It's moved on a pace even from last year. Sheff Wed bidding £10 million for players, same with Bristol City.
