I rest my case.

Yeah, kind of gathered that Triz. He hides it well though.
It is a good job I have some Indian and black American friends, otherwise I might get accused too.
That won't stop you getting accused OTR.Originally Posted by Oldtimeram

What does get me a bit though is the offence taken ON BEHALF of the target of the comments and immediate, dog with a bone style. Maybe the target of the comments don't give a toss and look at any such comments with the water off a ducks back mindset many people do have. Think, ok he has those views but rise above it as he obviously looks just plain daft saying them.
Racism is not right but neither is the hounding, knowing just what is press written (always correct???) of the"racist". Is bullying OK in that situation???
Well said and a fair and valid point
C'mon guys...why would anyone 'accuse' you OTR, and who is 'bullying', Rob? Surely all racists are, by definition, bullies and need to be challenged. Football has come a long way in the relatively short time since a certain type of 'fan' used to chuck bananas at John Barnes and West Brom's 'Three Degrees' - Cunningham, Regis and Batson - were subjected to all sorts of abuse. Look at the rubbish players still get in Serbia and parts of Eastern Europe, and for what? Just for being black. Unfortunately views like Eranio's are the tip of that 'iceberg' which is then further represented by malicious extremists whose views are represented by one particular person on this topic. Don't want to demonise SE but that's why, imo, such views always have to be challenged.
Meh. As yamyam said, its a cultural thing from Italy. If it was said by Roy Hodgson it would have more impact. But as it is, it's an Italian making an ill judged observation, nobody's got hurt, he's taken his punishment and can move on.
Is it any different to saying "white men can't jump"? Doesn't bother me.
That's what I was trying to say Anagram when I said maybe it was an Italian thing. Not all Italians obviously but some of their teams do have previous.
You explained it much better than me tho Anag.
AnagRam, I am probably a bit paranoid on this subject, but I have first hand experience of being called a racist when I am not.
Accusations of racism are getting out of control in many instances. In my case I was accused of being a racist by my sister in law a few years ago. I am not sure how we got onto the subject but I mentioned that it was wrong to change the of the dog in the new Dambusters film by Peter Jackson (not sure what has happened to this film now). I said that N!gger was not only the of Guy Gibson's dog but also the code word for breaching the Möhne Dam. A point of historical fact. She blew up at me for mentioning the word and called me racist. I was not being racist in any way, but it caused a row and I walked out.
There are far too many instances of people jumping on the band wagon when it comes to shouting "Racist". It really annoys me.
Most racists make it very clear of their views, but others who are not racist in any way often get called s
