    Eranio Sacked

Can't believe he's been sacked, accused of being a racist.

If the report on what he said is correct the TV company had no option but to sack him. Much like Ron Atkinson.
Very disappointed to hear this from such a great player who seemed to be a very nice bloke too.

How the hell is that racist?

It's a comment that has racial content and seems to have triggered the iver sensitive and uneducated views of the majority.

How many time have people said about Latin players in this country they can only play when the sun is in their back! Hear that all the time.

It may be poor judgement but is a generalised observation he's made from years in the game. Right or wrong he's entitled to his opinion.

He's not tried create hatred or prejudice towards any race. By saying a certain race or colour are physically stronger generally is that racist to the other race or colour when the emphasis is on the positive?

He's linking a negative attribute dubiously to a racial group ..... seems like racism to me.

But thick old Rattea jumps in feet first as ever.

The difference being i guess rat, is that if there is a hispanic player that is born and bred south american, the claim that he cant play 'without the sun on his back' may hold water, just as saying am english native can't hack the heat. But effectively saying all black people, no matter their country of origin, cannot concentrate for 90 minutes.....well thats racist.

As for your point about positive racism ie: black people are stronger, It is proven that certain ethnicities share particular physical traits. For example, kenyan people have long, thin limbs generally, evolved to aid with cooling and very useful in providing an effective gait in long distance running. However as far as i was aware any racial/ethnic brain differences are as yet unproven.

I don't think it was meant as a racist comment but more of a cultural physical/cognitive thing. It is a bit like black runners are mostly better than white runners and white swimmers are mostly better than black swimmers. This is fact. I think he meant it in this type of context and not maliciously in a racist way (well I hope so anyway).

Regardless, I think he should have thought about it a bit more and chosen his words better before opening his mouth

Claims of racism are far too easily made these days when there is never any intent meant.

But that's one specific group over another. If you target specific groups the opposite cherry picking groups. Point is people are not allowed to say anything that isn't positive if you associate it to a group. Ridiculous.

As with the sun on their back comment you can't condone that one one hand. What happens if he had stated black player could only play with the sun on their backs. How is it different? It isn't it's just double standard and lack of true understanding by the masses.

Bad judgement but certainly not racism or racist.

How about if a commentator said a certain colour player had to be better tactically and intelligently due to presumed physical inferiority. Do that and swapping the words white and black about and most people won't bat an eye lid at one but baulk at the other.

BlackAndWhite shows he's still not getting anything but the usual F- for his Neanderthal comments .... Oh dear

Gutted by this, a favourite player and one who I always thought was a great role model. 'Claims of racism' may sometimes be made 'too easily' OTR, but, however disappointing it might be, this isn't one of them and Triz and b&w56 are 100% right on this, imo.

I think physical differences are proven in race, mental/brain differences are very much not and rightly highly controversial.
