    Thanks yamyam.

Accept all that completely OTR...had a similar experience in a meeting myself once. Personally I think it's the difference between being 'anti-racist', which I actively am and make no apology for, and being 'politically correct' which, imo, often does a lot more harm than good.

Don't want to demonise SE but that's why, imo, such views always have to be challenged.
Sorry, my dear departed grandmother did not have ANY good words to say about ANY German and with reasons I wouldn't want to publicise. She hated them all and couldn't be persuad

Difficult one Rob, many of that generation thought that way and some with damned good reason. My late father in law thought the 'only good German was a dead German', but then I guess if you suffered life changing injuries at Dunkirk you would think like that.
Of course I wouldn't describe your grandmother as a 'bully', but we're not talking about the older generation who experienced things we can only imagine. We're talking about an articulate and knowledgeable ex-pro who has now sought out a career in the media and wasn't in any sort of emotional or stressful situation, and I'm neither jumping on any 'bandwagon' or saying he should never be forgiven.
Racism is something I feel strongly about, it came up as a topic and I have offered my comments. I said from the off that I was gutted that Eranio of all people, someone I truly respected, could say something so unfounded, stupid and, if you really think about it, utterly objectionable and divisive.
I respect your views and don't sup

Worst insult for you and me both but, to be clear, I've never called you and neither do I think of you as a racist. As for the footballer - Ched Evans maybe - like everyone else I don't know the truth and he may win his appeal...no idea, but at the time he was a convicted rapist and personally I can understand those who didn't want him at their club.

Seriously, I never thought you were accusing me. Just making my usual long winded point.

Again with the Ched Evans thing, I wouldn't have wanted him anywhere near my club (or my daughter!!!) with the allegations and conviction against him.
However, it's not whether he is or isn't a rapist, it's the reaction of some to shout down people who were prepared to give him a chance to rebuild his life and career. In fact they were saying that the WORST part was him not admitting his guilt.
Public opinion then takes over and no one would touch him with a barge pole.

Glad that first bits cleared up then.
Regarding Evans, think your first sentence says it all. Maybe some of those who wanted him - at Sheff.Utd, Oldham and Tranmere as I recall - were just desperate rather than 'prepared to give him a chance' but that might just be my cynicism. Beyond that, I take your point, the trouble is, he actually had been 'proven guilty', it's just that that verdict has since been challenged.
Anyway, onwards and upwards tomorrow at Huddersfield...hopefully.
