I think Shackell is getting a bit slow and his distribution is appalling. I guess the reason that Keogh has been given the job by more than one manager is that overall he is consistent, has experience, rarely gets injured and gives 100%. Who else comes into that category?

I reckon Bryson may be a good captain. Gives everything every game. Leads by example. Been at the club a while now so knows what it's about.
Only problem would be if/when subbed but could say that about any player really.
Or there's Will Hughes (if he's still with Rams next season, I fear the PL calling him)

Presumably he is the captain as he is the only player in the team as we sold the rest to pay for his wages LOL!

Keogh is the best we have IMO, Though would have been interesting to see what Pearce could do, he was captain at Reading before his ill fated move to the Rams!!!

I can understand that Rat, but you must be content with being you, envy won't get you anywhere and you know what the Dr said about your blood pressure

It's true my old friend I can't deny it, it's known as phallus envy if you ask my friend Freud

Back on top .... Oops mean topic I've argued this is what's missing for years. Cox bought Gregory, smith bought Stimach and Billy liar brought back Moore, Seth and Howard all leaders in different ways.

Out of contract, wrong side of 30s, has achieved most things with Chelsea so he could be realistic and drop down for the challenge of reinvigorating a club. Anyway this is a wish list and his on-field / motivational qualities are exactly what we have missing for a few years

Anyway Freud was a fraud its all in the mind I reckon.

Now Seth if only we had a "grab a game by the scruff of a neck player like him"

Where would we fit in a leader? It would mean bringing someone new into the club, as none of our current crop really possess this mentality. If brought in, at who's expense?

    Centre back?
    Centre Mid?

All our strongest players are in these positions, so it would mean a big change, maybe not for the worst, but how could you possible remove Hughes / Thorne / Shackell / Keogh? Does Bryson take the hit?

Or do we go for a wide position or striker - can someone truly lead and inspire from these positions?

Also, IMO the leader needs to have the manager's ear, and we don't have a manager, would we really want a strong personality that clashes with the next head coach?

I would say before anything happens on the player front, the manager position (Head Coach sorry) needs to be sorted, which it will be in the next week or so.

Whilst we have some decent players we do not have a natural leader on the pitch.

Firstly he has to be a player that has an automatic place when fit, that limits the choice to about four or five. Out of that group I don’t think he have anyone vocal enough with a ‘presence’.

    Keogh is the closest match.

Ramspride, whilst your list is not exhaustive, I think you have missed one who was the very epitome of a captain alongside those you mentioned - Robin van der Laan.
