Bent bananas aside AF, it seems like we're intent on upsetting the Chinese too at the moment. Europe...China...who's next for little Britain to piss off? Isolationism anyone?

Which seems an odd aberration considering the bank of england dropped interest rates on thursday for fear of recession and anticipating a fall in consumer spending. Scratches head pensively

Although I think his calm manner has helped to some extent and don't think he's one of the 'sulkers', Mark Carney has spent most of his time at BoE getting forecasts wrong. Maybe we should ask him for guidance on where Derby will finish the season

I'll bow to your greater knowledge on that one. My knowledge of Chinese business is absolutely zero although I thought, after our recent alienation of Europe, that the Chinese and Indian markets were meant to be quite crucial. As someone with little claim to any business acumen I just wonder if we can afford to make any more 'enemies'. We are, after all, just a rather self important small island nation on the (geographical and political) edge of Northern Europe.

We always were... but, we now have control of our own comparative advantage, which is watered down as an EU member.

Or we get ignored and they prefer to do business through a body that represents 27 potential markets, rather than one small country?

Not certain this "control" which people get so excited about is actually going to produce the benefits some think!

All economics is forecasting and betting on that forecast, its too early to say how things are going to but uncertainty means businesses and individuals are wary of investing so an economic decline is a self fulfilling prophesy in many ways.

Whist I agree with the sentiment, its not been the Uk's Policy for the past few centuries and the reality is that principles cost money and jobs and not many n the population seem to think that's a price worth paying! Mind you perhaps Brexit is a sign of a change in public opinion? Though I'm not holding my breath on that one!

Or.... Deal with someone that can actually make a decision. There is life outside Europe and the world still revolves.. Britian still produces some good sellable quality stuff (not enough) but we still have some left.

Reading your posts I'm surprised that I am not more well off.. We've been in Europe a long time, I must be absolutely minted.
What have the Europeans ever done for us? I blame Monty Python.

I think Brexit was the previously silent majority finding their voice.
