    QUEENS v STENHOUSEMUIR

The Warriors make a quick return to Palmy for a second cup - tie this season after a narrow defeat last time out courtesy of a Hamill shot that somehow was spilled into the net by their keeper. Queens performance that day was not up there with the best this season and we struggled to break Stenny down as they packed their defence / midfield and relied on lone striker McMenamin scoring on a breakaway which, to be fair, he nearly did missing an absolute sitter when heading a cross straight at Lee Robinson. Lets hope for a better showing this time round and, once again, a victory !

Stenhousemuir were stuffy last time out and on another day we could have been embarrassed.

A lot of people blamed their spoiling tactics, but it is up to us to counter that.

Queens should try to take the game by the scruff of the neck, score a couple of quick goals and force Stenny to come out and attack - hence stretching the game and potentially making it easier for us to score a comfortable hatful of goals and have a good work out into the bargain.

The alternative is to play the same type of game as last time, risk injuries to our top players and more bookings for Hammill. Millar etc and piss off a lot of fans who might be encouraged to come out and see the new Queens!

I posted before the last game against Stenny and I iterate it here. Stenhousemuir is a Division One team that has now played nine competitive matches this season, losing seven, winning one and drawing one. Their solitary victory was against Rangers U21 team. Queen of the South, on the other hand, is a Championship team with pretentious to finishing in the top four; and the game is a home tie at Palmerston. If we can't see off Stenhousemuir, and see them off comfortably, we are in trouble. What is of more interest to me is what the attendance will be. On the last occasion we barely scraped over the 1000 mark. Will we do better this time?

Following up on Cresswell's comment above on the attendance last time we played Stenny - according to Queens own stats in their match programme the crowd was 1,013 less 13 away fans so exactly 1,000 home fans turned up on the day - surely with our recent
good run of form another few 100 will come along to Palmy tomorrow but I do know several fans who buy a season ticket but don't or won't pay to attend cup games !

Well that was easy . Another professional performance from Queens

Really pleased to see Steve Rigg score his first goals for the club . He looks a decent player but unfortunately he'll not get a start ahead of Dobbie or Lyle unless they're injured , suspended or somehow stop scoring

Crowd today was 1158. Counted 29 Stenny fans across the other side.

That was easy for Queens and we went about it with the correct attitude right from the start. It ended 7-1 but we could easily have had double figures.
Got off to a flier with a cracking strike from Dale Hilson on 6 minutes then Grant Anderson cut in from the right and struck a sweet left foot shot past the Stenny keeper. From that moment it was game over.
Dobbie showed again some moments of sheer brilliance, scored twice and had another couple of shots just miss the target.
Del got another goal and is now on his way to his second hundred.
Rigg replaced Lyle on the hour mark and banged in two goals on 66 and 79 minutes which was good to see.
Moxon and Pickard also got decent second half run outs.
As for Stenhousemuir, well they are one of the worst teams I have seen QOS play in quite a while, look like they will struggle all season.

The only disappointments today were conceding a goal and the non existent atmosphere ..... We desperately need more crowd participation at home games . Looks like the young team aren't going to return
