Agree wholeheartedly with all that Swale, possibly go further...it's actually necessary to have some degree of disagreement to have a debate. I'm not sure what's gone wrong. Can see how Mel's made mistakes but remain convinced that his heart is in the right place which should be important to DCFC fans.
As for the forum...some blame the Brexit debate, but surely the site would have died over the summer without it. Disagreement and healthy debate/banter are the lifeblood of any forum aren't they...so long as things don't degenerate into negativity and personal abuse. Agree also with macstheman, hopefully an upturn in fortune will help the site along again but it's sad when the likes of Ella go...Roger has been conspicuous by his absence of late and Angry still seems to be taking a 'break'. I'll stick around but if it turns into anything like the Swindon Board, i.e. two blokes talking rubbish to each other, I've got much better things to do.

Apart from the Red dog, most of the Brexit debate was a good natured debate which created a diversion during the close season, so can't see that had anything to do with the lack of posting.

I think many still read, but unless one has something to say then they dont post.

Maybe its because there is little to whinge about - yes the team aren't firing on all cylinders, but given money has been spent on supposedly quality footballers, an experienced manager with a track record has been appointed and we have reasonably well off local owner so the usual criticisms are difficult to air, hence the lak of debate, though in the past the baord has tedned to be busy when theres been somethign to whinge about and quiet when things are going well.

Roger's contribution has generally been to pick up on typo's, grammatical errors or poor maths, been a long time since he posted anything of substance IMO.

Anyway OTR's back in the frame, so as long as he is still breathing there will be life in DM for a while!

I bet Oldtimer can still drink us all under the table Swale
I agree that the 'negative' at times can be better for debate because it gets fans more angry & passionate about their team.
Whereas the 'positive' seems to bring about a quieter & less responsive time for whatever reason. This isnt always the case but as a regular poster on boards like this, Ive found it does happen a lot and the subject doesnt even have to be about footy.

    'Little to whinge about'...Really?
Some can whinge about anything...the owner isn't bothered, the owner is too involved, the manager is a 'psychotic', the manager is 'out of his depth', we've sold our most prolific striker, he's nothing more than a big headed diver who goes down like a falling 'wardrobe'... you name it...someone'll whinge.
One goal in 630 minutes of football though and God knows how long since we won at home (Bolton in early April I think)...ample justification for a bit of whinging there I'd say.

True, but the usual solutions suggested, change the manager to one who has actually got promotion from this league ...CHECK, bring in a wealthy local owner who has a passion for the club...CHECK, spend £20 million on some quality players... CHECK, get rid of some underperforming players...CHECK

I'm intrigued as to what the blue print from fans to change matters would now be.. except maybe give the guy time to shape the team and play consistently??

As one can only base a player on the form for the club they are currently at one has to wonder where the quality players are. But hey let's not moan about Ince, Butterfield and Johnson, instead I'll enjoy their crap.......not
