Was also thinking along those lines Louis - We were solid in the first half and they were not much of a threat - their defence threw in the towel second half under pressure from Dobbie and Co - crowd several hundred up so let's keep it going - our bubble may burst at Ibrox on Tuesday but on Saturday we have chance to go five points ahead of Hibs - happy days !

These average attendances are a bit skewed if you were to compare us to say Raith. Raith only brought about a hundred fans yesterday and would take far, far more to the likes of Falkirk, Hibs and Dunfermline. . These teams in turn repay the favour. It's all location, location.

How many really and truly thought that Queens would be sitting at the top of the league into the second half of September? So let's celebrate that. It may not be "all location", JRS, but location is a significant factor. I have posted so often that our place in Scottish football is dictated principally by geography and demography, which is why Queens will never be a major force. However, it is somewhat disappointing that, for what should be one of the more attractive fixtures of the season, we fall 136 short of the 2000 barrier regardless of the number of "away" fans in attendance. Sadly, it simply re-enforces my oft expressed views that, for many, football has ceased to be of interest.

Cresswell- will anything make you happy, man we are top of the league so lets just drink that in and enjoy rather than to harp back to days long gone and never to be seen again. It's all about the here and now!!!

My God, Spikefaethesouth, you're easily upset and way off the mark. First of all, did you expect Queens to be at the top of the league at this time? If you can honestly answer "yes" I congratulate you on your foresight: if, on the other hand, like me you really didn't then get off your high horse. If you read my post you'll see that I invited us Queens fans to celebrate that we are sitting at the top of the table. As for harping back to days long gone I'd welcome your pointing out to me exactly where I have done that. Geography and demography has dictated, does dictate and always will dictate our standing in Scottish football whether you, and others, like it or not. As for a general loss of interest in football, that is the here and now: not the past. Yes, in my formative years Queens had average attendances in excess of 10,000; and, yes, I've stood at Hampden in crowds in excess of 130,000 but I recognised a very long time ago that these days are gone never to return. That said, I do not think it is at all unreasonable to express my disappointment that Queens could not attract an attendance in excess of 1900 for a home game against Raith Rovers whom many expect to be competing for a top four finish. There are many reasons why attendances have fallen and I have no intention of rehearsing these reasons here. If you found yesterday's attendance acceptable that is your privilege; equally, if I found it disappointing that is my privilege.

Cresswell it was only a fortnight or so ago when I expressed the same view as yourself stating crowds at Palmerston were unacceptable, albeit I did state the town doesn't deserve a successful football club if it doesn't come out and support it. The answer I got from yourself was that I was verging on arrogance to think that fans should come out and support queens, or football in general. Is this not a bit of pot and kettle here with what you are stating?

It all depends on the terms used, fatfan. I have expressed my personal disappointment that we fell short of the 1900 mark on Saturday, which is a long way short of some of the terms used like "the town doesn't deserve". I think all of us would like to see higher attendances at Palmerston, and I include myself in that; at the same time we must recognise that there is no obligation on anyone to part with their money for something in which they have no interest.
