Really? In 2016? That's what it says in this report according to a Gary Lineker tweet.

8% of football fans aren't comfortable with their own ***uality and feel threatened somehow. Quite sad.
If more footballers came out would there be an increase in 'stonewall' penalties?.
And I'm sure there would also be an increase
Rugby and cricket fans set a precedent on how to behave to a minority of football fans again.
For me it's simple. Clubs need to come down on homophobia in the same way that they came down on racism. When I was a kid black footballers endured monkey chants and had bananas thrown at them. Anyone behaving like this now would face a lifetime ban. So why are the FA not threatening the same sanctions for homophobic chants?
Couldn't possibly be because the FA is controlled by people who share the views of the 8%?
Greg Clarke is another fool and his comments are in no way helpful.
Gay footballers???? Never!!!
Drink driving, women beating cheats???? No problem!
Let's take a scenario....let's use one of the 8% fans....
So there they are off early to meet their mates for a bevvi or two before the match....walking down the street they suddenly collapse with a massive heart attack ....
A driver sees this and quickly pulls over jumps out of their car and calls for medical help then gives the fan mouth to mouth and heart massage and helps saves his life.... medical help arrives the fan is transferred to hospital and makes a full recovery....,
Fan wants to meet the man who saved his life as he can carry on growing old with his wife and kids.... the meetings arranged and said man turns up....
Who is this hero? It's none other than the gay centre forward of his team who he's shouted for and supported for the last two seasons! Would this fan stop watching his team because a gay man used mouth to mouth on him and saved his life?
Not saying this scenario would ever happen but it's just an example of ignorance as the world and its people evolve...
The sooner one brave soul comes out the better as more would then it would help their cause... the moronic caveman fan that cannot accept a gay footballer playing for his team won't be missed ....
How many Father fans in the crowd have gay sons and daughters? There must be thousands... I wonder how they would react to hear some idiot chanting homophobic chants at gay footballers?
My nephew is gay. He came and stayed with us for a fortnight in the summer.
I didn't act any differently to how I usually act around anyone. He was more critical of the way the extreme attention seeking gays make it more difficult for him to feel comfortable with straight men.
At our house there is always something to do and whilst he was there we prepared the fire wood for this winter. It was the first time he'd ever done manual labour. You can imagine for yourselves the jokes that were exchanged.
He actually went back home with a different view on straight men.
Always two sides to everything.
Would I stop going to a football match because a player in the team was gay? Would it hell.
Another scenario for Brin....he likes these
So, there's a football club that's got the most homophobic fans in the world, the team is struggling week in week out, season in season out, they sign a new team, all gay, which turn out to be the best team they've ever had....do the fans turn their back on the team? do they chuff, they'd be like any other fan when the team's doing well and support them....until they lose a couple of course haha
Moral of the story is, fans are fickle, if they're that fickle about gay footballers, then they shouldn't be classed as a supporter...
I had a discussion with someone on another thread about
He was taking his employer to a tribunal about snooping into his medical records.
He was gay and contracted HIV. The law stated he didn't need to reveal his condition (he didn't). I said imo he should be informing the employer or first aid man/woman incase of a emergency
After several verbal attacks calling me ignorant. Living in the 50s. Homophobic ect I just didn't bother replying..
I actually said. If it was me. I would inform my employer. Not that he should have
