    FIFA enforcing rules and morals

Absolutely laughable for FIFA to be punishing and applying rules on anyone. The whole establishment has no morals and is as trust worthy as a banana republic leader ok Blatter is out of the picture but where is the findings of Russia and Qatar? Does Russia even deserve to hold a World Cup after its recent scandals? Nothing will happen, as it exposes this poison for what it is. Far easier to to make an issue about a bloody flower on a shirt. Ass holes the lot of them

'Debatable', Triz...the Falklands was one of the most politically orchestrated 'wars' of all time.
As ever the truth is somewhere out there....overall I have a lot of time for the views of Rats and Triz...but Ram59 surely has a point when he says it's about remembering those who 'lost their lives'. If Rememberance Day was about ALL those who lost their lives in war - and other circumstances - rather than having the current nationalistic attachments I'd be a lot more comfortable with it all.

I thought we were told WW1 was the war to end all wars? Whilst I think it's right to remember our dead, it seems very sad and wrong that we have to keep on adding additions to those to remember. Unfortunately there is an element in the this country (and other countries) who see these type of ceremonies as a jingoistic flag waving exercise.

I can see where you're coming from but corrupt as they are they have to apply rules, if not the international scene could be complete anarchy. What if for instance Russia wanted to have printed on their shirts 'death to gays' or some such, or if teams refused to play against a team with black people in. I hate Fifa as much as anyone but unfortunately they are the ones in charge.

FIFA are setting a dangerous precident here. By claiming that displaying poppies is a political message, does that mean that no supporters will be able to wear a poppy in future years at games under FIFA control?

Don't think FIFA are likely to have any control over what supporters wear tbh. Does seem weird that they are putting their foot down over the poppy as a political message though. I imagine they, quite rightly, approve of some political messages i.e. the 'Kick it Out' campaign and I wouldn't be surprised if, again quite rightly imo, there aren't minutes' silences observed at matches all over Europe in memory of those killed in last night's Berlin atrocity. Another case of FIFA shooting themselves in the foot maybe and political correctness tripping itself up.

Have to agree its a jingoistic ritual designed to keep people thinking that joining the Army is a glorious career when in reality they are mercenaries paid to do whatever the government wants.

Pay the fine and move on, FA knew it was coming but IMO made the right decision. FIFA just want to be seen to be doing something so issue the token fine. Everyone ticks their own box and that's that.
