Thread: Tony needs to make a statement

  1. #11
I wonder how the sales of half season tickets are going. It doesn't take a genius to work out that they would sell much better if there was a plan for the remainder of the season. Get a manager in with enough time to work with Jamie Johnson to identify and recruit his own players. Asses the current squad and keep/ship out as necessary. The RUFC ship needs a captain not a co-pilot and the silence from Mr Stewart is becoming increasingly deafening. Come on Tone, it's your move. I haven't heard anyone say 'check mate' or heard any large lady singing yet.

If we were serious about trying to avoid relegation we would have had a new manager in place by now and we would have had a clear plan around bringing in new players as soon as the transfer window opened, not being sat here with a week gone and nothing happening as far as incomings go.

We have no intention on improving the squad and are in the middle of a severe cost cutting exercise to limit the damage of next years significant drop in income.

If the rumours are true that the donkey that is Dexter Blackstock is on £10k per week we'll need to sell around 2,000 season tickets to pay him alone, a big dent in next seasons income streams meaning you get next to F all TV money in league 1.

All of the above doesn't fit in with incremental Tone and we're aiming for the promised land positive spin.

How can he go from that to look lads we're skint, were always skint and I was just bull****ting you because I think you are stupid enough to believe every word I say and by the way thanks for the season ticket money, please renew for next year as we're still aiming for the promised land it will just take a couple of seasons longer???
Were down already, we have been for a couple of months, let's plan our return to the championship

Totally agree that's why I said if we were serious.

I also don't believe that next season in league 1 is going to be anything to write home about as we continue to suffer Stubbs legacy of rubbish players, signed on 3 year contracts on what for league 1 will be decent wages.

As a result we won't have the budget to sign the quality players we need to compete at the top end of league 1, mid-table at best or god forbid a battle to avoid a second consecutive relegation back to league 2.

Just watching the Spurs v Villa game.

£55.75 million Villa has spent this year. The "panel" mentioned that a large percentage having shown their potential YET.

These guys are £17 million players and they haven't played a part in Villa's season.

Stubbs / Fergie / Mr Millwall / the special one.....it matters not! If you have a budget like ours you'll have to get what you can cheap or players out of contract.

Blaming Alan Stubbs is pathetic at this stage of the season - even more than the first thir**** games.

Now - how have the fans contributed to our woeful season.

1...At Barnsley - those morons who mobbed the manager and players shouting despicable things at them were our representatives to the new squad.

Outcome: Does anyone believe it motivated the manager and team to higher levels of performance ?

2...Social media ( including MM ) vilified manager and certain players constantly based on nothing more than ignorance of the game and how to develop a team.

Outcome: Does anyone believe it motivated the manager and team to higher levels of performance ?

3...Social media ( including MM ) constantly belittle the chairman who saved us from extinction and built the NYS. Direct insults to the chairman and his family on 'twitter' and other moronic domain's.

Outcome: Does anyone believe it motivated the chairman / manager and team to higher levels of performance.

Right.....many on here and other social media have been and are presently guilty of all of the above and now.....

    Laughingly......

You are "demanding" that the chairman / the club should tell all on every aspect of the running of a championship league club to even tempered intelligent - patient fans that have treat him disgracefully.

I wouldn't mind but 99% of the information demanded and the stupid complaints of miss-managged player purchases / agents / fees / club aspirations / budgets available are all well documented and we're explained at length at the time.

Villa have spent £55.75 million this year.

The complaints being made generally and on this thread would be understandable if we were all Villa fans!

£17 million on a player who's performance is not up to scratch - and they have 10 such multI million pound players.

    Some condemmed a manager within 13 games - get a life !

Some are condemning players who came on free transfers and not scored 10 goals yet - get a life !

Some are condemning the chairman who they constantly abuse for not texting them for advice on transfer's

    Get a life !

And with all this motivation and love from the Rotherham United "fans" you expect what exactly....the team you get may be the one you deserve !

I started reading this, then within the first few lines I saw you defending Alan Stubbs again and didn't read the rest.
I did notice your second to last line though and I think you should take your own advice.

    We need :-

Championship quality Training Facilities that help to attract and importantly, keep players at the peak of their physical fitness. Going outside if you want to put weights above your head is a joke.

A proper Youth policy including sub scouts who report to chief scouts who report to the Head of Recruitment new bloke (forgotten his name and can't be rsed to look it up. Get out there and comb the playing fields every Saturday and Sunday. In the meantime we shall have to take in trainee players from Boro and the like who want to cut their teeth at our expense in L1 and maybe L2. The latter is no future for the club but it will have to do until we get our own young in.

Try and maintain our season ticket sales by selling to certain sections of the fans at deeply discounted prices. Got to get young fans in who are our future. Visit schools and drum up support. Any one over the age of 70 should be free. It's better to try and fill the ground with concessions and hope they'll spend on merchandise, sausage rolls, programmes etc. Even if revenues from fans remain flat compared to Championship periods, the additional voices on the terraces can only help the players. atmosphere on Saturday with only 4000 of our own was awful and a sample of things to come unless we do something.

A loyalty scheme to award points every time our season tickets are swiped at the turnstiles or via the shop. Stop being lazy rses and reward the fans who have followed the club for decades and got nothing back. Add double acknowledgement to fans who go to away games - it's not cheap to follow RUFC away every other week. Everywhere offers loyalty schemes so do the same.

Forget any notion to extend the stadium - Oooooops sorry, that was a fib so let's just ignore that one.

Get rid of Blackstock once and for all by offering him a lump sum to pay up his contract. Everyone has their price. His presence will drive fans away and injure team spirit.

Give the top thirty posters on here ( and me for suggesting the idea) a seat on the board and we will make this club great again.

    There then
