Finally some comments on the Villa board about the game. Not in a matchthread mind you, but in a thread titled "Preparing for next season" This is typical.

" the teams we are losing to , Wolves , Cardiff , Norwich , these are teams we should have been beating quite easily"

    Based on what!!

Like the Baggy posted earlier, completely delusional.

Gav', rarely would I have the temerity or indeed feel the necessity to disagree with you, mate, but I thought your match report on this one was a trifle sanitized. By saying this, I realise I'm probably out of step with my fellow Wulfies, but there were periods during this game (particularly, in the the second half) when I honestly believed an equaliser was imminent. I'd be lying if I said otherwise. The introduction of Grealish gave Villa added determination to rescue something from the match, but try as they might they were unable to create enough to penetrate a Wolves defence that managed to hold firm in spite of some 'nervy' moments. In an earlier post I suggested Wolves were 'lucky' and I don't reconcile from that remark. Having created far more than Villa, Wolves should have been out of sight at half-time, but although there was evidence of improved potency in attack the 'cutting edge' is still not there is it ? Wolves were 'lucky' it didn't come back to bite them. A more persistent, determined, Villa attack could so easily have brought us undone. In the 83rd minute, when Villa were pressing, a frantic Batth decided to grab a piece of McCormack's shirt in full view of the referee. Why a penalty was not awarded escapes me. We were lucky ! Had Villa equalised from a penalty at that stage of the game, they were showing sufficient momentum to go on and even win it !

I don't get the opportunity to see Wolves play very often and after the glorious performance against Stoke last week perhaps I was expecting a great deal more than was on show yesterday. A tad lucky to win? Yes, I think so.

That's the thing about watching a game of football, one person has access to every debatable decision when watching on tele, and then myself and those inside a football stadium, we get to see everything only once, well until we see highlights or have recorded the whole game.

I expected a tough game after the changes made before kick-off from the side that faced Stoke. When Wolves took the lead, i mentioned to the chaps around me that sometimes in games one is never enough, it was yesterday. In both games, Villa have disappointed me. Wolves for me were unlucky not to get six points.

Back to this game, again, it's how we all see it, Villa should've had a penalty, Jedinak lucky to stay on after the trailing arm that caught Edwards.

I was actually expecting a Villa equaliser, Wolves have an habit of getting deeper and deeper and inviting pressure on themselves. I thought their main outlet was down Doherty's side in the second half, with Alan Hutton providing the overlap and twice getting in behind Doherty. No end product though.

We can also took about luck, but the only side that deserves to win really is the side that scored one more than the opposition.

Grizz, Gav's report was spot on. Villa never looked like scoring and didn't have a shot on target.....we out shot them and out run them. Villa looked a poor side me and we were definitely worth the three points. That was the best atmosphere at Molineux in a decade and it reminded me what I love about football when we have a nearly full house.

    Have to agree

Thought we were quite comfortable in the game and didn't get nervy really till about the 85th where Veela have rescued games late on in the past!

Mason gets my man of the match in this one although he did fade a little when moved left but he come back in it

Regards Saville, I don't really rate him but has done well in his last few showings and yesterday felt he came in and immediately calmed the situation and made the midfield ours!

Atmosphere was superb throughout, enjoy the larger fuelled half five kick offs lol!

Good to see the Bod thunder clap at the North Bank end, impressive! Bet our end looked ace!

So called 'big club mentality', Villa have had a massive wake up call dropping into the championship. Every club has followers that think their side only have to turn up each week and it's a certain three points. I'm glad in reality football doesn't work like that.

Be fare Woodlands, that aint a 'typical' post, in fact it's the only one. On another thread, a rather good looking, slim, well endowed, young looking 52 year old posted:
'I would fear for us, if by some sort of miracle, that we went up this season. A second string Spurs side, if we’re honest, toyed with us, whilst their first team just obliterated a very solid and disciplined Baggies team. Most of the prem would overpower us at the mo, just as bloody Preston, Leeds x2, Norwich, Cardiff, feckin Luton and to be honest, Wolves x2 did'.
Ah well, the mystery poster may remain anonymous, but the point remains the same mate. We aint like them swamp dwellers at all, we were outplayed in both games, and we know it. I don't like it, but tough tootie, twas fact.

    Up The Villa.
