Not so much as ‘bottled it’ but simply played very poorly, practically non existent 1st half and only marginally better 2nd half.
Admit they were not much better and had Kenny Miller not been playing we’d be raising a glass to the team for scraping thru.
IMO not until we rid ourselves our aged players will we see any signs of improvement.
We are stuck in the past, predictable and only rarely do we play above mediocrity.
Will we go down … NO, as worse than us SPL

Fair assessment, though had Miller not been playing I'm sure we'd have found a way to chuck them a goal or two before the end, we just can't help ourselves particularly against Rangers.

The rest of what you say is alarmingly accurate. We are stuck in the past, we seem obsessed with handing out contracts to aging players re-signing popular ex players and managers instead of looking to the future. And what's worse we as a club don't seem to want to move away from the early eighties when we were toiling in the lower leagues, we'd rather punch above our weight as opposed to adapting our levels of expectations to those of an established top flight club that we have been for over thirty years now! For as long as a mentality like that exists we will always lose games like today and we will never ever perform in cup competitions because too many connected with our club just shrug off debacles like that with "ach well, we're only Motherwell". Well we've no hope of moving forward as a club with that mindset running through us.

Hard to argue with that...last summer you could make arguments for each of the veterans individually and certainly releasing all of them at once would have left us with a monumental task ahead of this season. But at the same time it seemed equally clear that keeping all of them would leave us struggling and so it's proved - a Harri Kampman-style clear out, with better recruitment obviously, could have been a risk worth taking.

I think we've been unlucky in that injuries have kept Lasley a starter rather than starting his journey to the bench. McDonald is the only one who has really justified his deal.

The one thing I'd say about the attitude of the club (and I don't disagree that it should improve) is that it's a two-way streak with the fans...we had our best league spell in decades, broke all kinds of records and yet if anything our attendances went down...the average post on this place was just as negative then as it was when we hit the slump. Anyone from the club deciding on where to set our goals could take one look at our support than easily justify saying 'nope' when it came to raising our ambition.

As a support we have the club we deserve.

IMO the whole situation stems from our manager's over inflated ego and credibility where he looks on it we only lost 2-1 and we're really unlucky not to get a replay a whole lot of bulls**t. The reality is continue with this attitude and tactics and we will. definitely be playing in the Championship next season.We are more than capable of competing against most teams in this league we have a player who will score the goals in the shape of Louis Moult when given the service.The first half today there was no chance of us scoring,bring on McDonald who holds the ball up gets the midfield and wide men more involved and as if by magic we score,it's certainly not rocket science attack and YOU can score,defend deeper and deeper and you WILL concede a goal or two.Just have a go t them next Saturday
