You go on about the players he inherited being poor, yet Kelly, Broadfoot, Wood and Mattock were absolutely immense for Warnock. Why couldn't he, a top flight defender himself, replicate Warnock's success? The fact that he paired Ball and Fry together in one game is beyond belief. We leaked goals, which is not ideal when your tactic is to have 25% possession.

In my humble opinion, he was worse than Redfearn.
Fair play to you Gorky, you called it right about Stubbsy...I was still a believer long after you had said he was going to be a disaster.

    How wrong I was.

In fact if a saboteur had been hired by someone with an axe to grind against RUFC to destroy the club from within, I doubt they wouldn't have done half as much damage as Stubbsy did. He caused absolute havoc.

That's a tad harsh! I think he was way out of his depth and is more of a coach than a manager, like Redders. Didn't have much of a personality like Evans, Warnock or Paul Warnes. And I also think coming from a different country/league and the knowledge of players played a part. Don't think I ever voiced an opinion until he was sacked though? I will say The Lincoln Brothers will be an absolute success when they come in for next season though.

Gorky - over simplification of the start of a season ( the start ) against the end of the season ( the end ) with all your keys players fit including young Grant Ward who was immense. FRECK'S was played untill he was knackered and Captain Kirk played superbly.

Not forgetting NW brought in Lloyd Doyley to bolster the defence. Ref:

"Kirk Broadfoot produced another commanding display at the heart of the Rotherham defence where he was partnered by Lloyd Doyley."

And Best alone up front with Grant & Freck's steam up to support him.

It's all about opinions Gorky and I'll read yours later....but initial glimpse at it brought this initial response. Haven't got time atm.....UTM

Sorry mate, there were three games. Huddersfield, Norwich, Newcastle. We conceded 56 shots on goal but to be fair only gave 6 goals away.

    That's not too shoddy against:

Huddersfield - where we lost 2 - 1 and their winner was caused by referee allowing Huddersfield midfielders to play basketball immediately leading to their winner.

And we scored the near perfect away goal.....Taylor crossing to Ward.

Norwhich was 3 - 1 but they were on a high and not the low when we recently played them.

Newcastle was 0 - 1 and we could have won that one - Taylor hitting the crossbar and Ward ?...hitting the post late on.

    And your point was :

"The fact that he paired Ball and Fry together in one game is beyond belief."

    mmmmm

The point I was making is that no decent manager would play two kids at centre half in what was already a relegation battle. The fact he played them three times only compounds that. I only went to the Newcastle match from those; they should've been 4-0 up before they scored. It was a spirited performance against a top side though, an anomaly to the rest of the Stubbs era - games like Bristol and Brentford (where we somehow won!) we were played off the park by average teams.

    PS sorry shark!

Those "kids" were strong - large - athletes and England Under whatever they were.

Large Fries was no pushover and Ball is one tough Mo-Fo!

God - I love you turn your back on facts "an anomaly"

13 games to mix and match a new squad to him.....trying to play Championship grade football with a budget squad that was forced upon him. - The budget that is......every player brought in was thoughtfully selected to be capable of growing together as a TEAM....

    THIS TAKES TIME.....

Having my dinner now before the match

    Hope we win

Ellis - Do some more research.....your missing some facts.....

ENGLAND have been welcomed at NYS several times to full houses.

Even England ladies have played at NYS.

I went to them all and the noise was exceptional - but the England ladies were cheered at such a high pitch it made your eyes water.

Hoping we get more England gigs - because the pitch is second to none and we have good attendances.
Well, seeing as though you are trying to be clever, Alan Stubbs never signed a single one of those England ladies players either. So Stubbs STILL never signed any England players. Checkmate.
