    Celtic Development Plans

    http://www.scotsman.com/news/celtic-...plex-1-4372801

Plans for hotel, museum etc around the stadium. Good for the local area and as a bonus it's sure to get the buns even more fizzing than usual with cries of corruption.

It sure has, just read the letters page on the article on NewsnowCeltic, and we,re a bunch of child molesters that have Glasgow council in our back pockets, and we should have been done for non payment of taxes by declaring smaller crowds back in the day, I presume it does all stem back to the days that this plan was for ibrox, only they had a casino in their plans, mibbes that's something that Celtic should think about too.

Huns are beelin about most things these days - but apart from that what's the story with hotel and museum and shop? I thought they already have a museum in their ground - mate says he's been in it and done a tour and they already have a club shop outside their ground as well.

Is this any more than just kicking huns when they're down in an effort to put into action what the huns planned some years back?

I think it might just be the Celtic hierarchy looking to increase revenue coming in rather than it having anything to do with Rangers.

Should see some jobs created in the area, which is never a bad thing.

Proper store, hotel complex, museum, conference facilities, bit of corporate business. Plus redeveloping already used land...

When you say "proper store" do you mean like a high-street shop A-wear, Gap or the like, or a Tesco outlet, or what?

If it does generate jobs in the area that is a good thing - seemed a rather run-down area generally the last time I was up there.

If it's to be an extra revenue stream for Celtic then talk of money going to money - don't think it's good for Scottish fitba if one club becomes absolutely huge by comparison to all the rest

It wasnt that long ago Celtic lived off similar crowds to the likes Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs, etc, we got ambitious and invested wisely, took the abuse for having a "biscuit tin" and had to suffer as Murray spent everyone elses money so the Huns could have a wee period of domination. If Celtic become huge in comparison you cant blame us, are we supposed to remain a wee diddy community club forever because everyone else in Scottish football cant motivate themselves to plan for bigger and better things ?

Just looking at Aberdeen as an example there, their largest average attendance in the last 30 years was 20,496 in '88/89, Celtic's in the same season was 31,713. Since then, Aberdeen have been pretty much around 15,000 or under whereas Celtic's lowest was 22,636 in '93/94, since 1996 - it's been 47,000 or over. (according to Fitbastats.com)

Presumably you're talking about the early 80s, when attendances where fairly similar although I'm not sure how much planning was done for this golden age of Football we have now at that point.
