Purely by chance of course... hardly a fixture I would choose but hey ho... apart from that I have absolutely no idea how to go about getting a ticket for an away game...

    To some apparently...
Celtic will naturally protest this disparity, given that they are a far superior team and a far superior support, both in terms of quality and quantity.
Given that over fifty five thousand Celtic supporters turn out to watch their team every other week as opposed to a bunch of stay-at-hame tightwads you could fit in a phone box, I think Celtic FC are quite right to appease those supporters by pointing out this injustice.

The allocation of tickets has been handled in full consultation with both participating clubs and the available seating at Hampden Park will be split on a 50/50 basis, as has been standard practice in previous cup finals where a sell-out crowd is anticipated.

It should also be noted that one of the reasons Celtic will potentially receive fewer tickets than Aberdeen is that the East Stand, Celtic’s preferred stand for Scottish Cup matches at the National Stadium, contains fewer seats than the West Stand.

In addition, the ‘football family’, made up of Scottish FA members, commercial partners, other recognised football organisations and staff, have the right to buy match tickets for the final.

This has impacted on the number of tickets the clubs will receive to sell to their supporters with demand for tickets in the Celtic areas outweighing that of the Aberdeen areas.

Can't really have it both ways - either the split is 50/50 (as it should be) or it isn't. Why on earth is the national stadium got 700 more seats on one side of the half way line than the other

It is a 50/50 split however the SFA holds back a number of tickets from each team's allocation for corporate sponsors, other clubs and associations etc. These people are given the choice of which teams side of the stadium they want tickets for and in this case more of these groups wants tickets from the Celtic side which leaves less (700) for the real supporters to use.

But the SFA's own statement says one of the reasons for Celtic potentially getting fewer "is that the East Stand, Celtic’s preferred stand for Scottish Cup matches at the National Stadium, contains fewer seats than the West Stand."

    The SFA statement also says:

'The allocation of tickets has been handled in full consultation with both participating clubs and the available seating at Hampden Park will be split on a 50-50 basis, as has been standard practice in previous cup finals where a sell-out crowd is anticipated.'

Which to me seems a bit contradictory hence my saying they can't have it both ways.
