still plenty people proud of being a Queens supporter it's just a shame the passion has gone , especially last season when it became a chore to attend matches . It's a situation that needs urgently addressed by the club . The word togetherness has been used above and that's something the fans need to get back . Too many bickering among themselves IMO

Yes changed days from only a few years ago when all the fan clubs got together and with help from big Kev the groundsman built a locomotive under the new stand which was then mounted on to a lorry and entered the Guid Nychburris parade under the banner '' we may travel by the railway line '' Sadly the enthusiasm of those days for whatever reason has disappeared like snaw off a dyke.

I think there are plenty of reasons Bruce. Many fans involved in that (me included) were naively hoping that coming together to support a community club in Dumfries in response to what was happening down the road at Gretna would lead to a real change in attitude from the BoD.

Sadly, in my opinion, the fans are still being treated like mushrooms and any real change to a proper community club has not been realised. Add to that the problems with overspending under Rae, the crass appointment to the Board of a Rangers fan and the club
being mostly average on the park, poor communications, the Boards intransifience on having a fans rep on the Board etc etc.

The days of the Scottish Cup Final and trip to Denmark now appear to be the high water line with regards to Queens and support has been left to the diehards. People quickly find other things to do and focus on and I doubt even a competitive team would see some coming back.

Queens should get all the supporters clubs together and try rally the troops again .

All for one and one for all

PS - you should see what Queens do in the community KFTS . Dan Armstrong is doing a fine job

Once again our resident doom merchant on this forum has spoken and as usual has not much good to say about our proud wee club which I presume he still supports. D.Rae along with R. Bradford,N.Blount,K.Houliston,C. Paterson,W. Houliston and many others have over the years invested considerable sums of money to keep the club afloat in Scottish Football which has been on the decline for years. If we had taken the Gretna path (Spending money we didn't have) we would have ended up bankrupt and ended up in the lower reaches of Scottish Football. Over the last 17 years we have enjoyed arguably one of our most successful periods in our history having landed two Challenge Cups,Two league titles, appeared in a Scottish Cup Final and represented Scotland in European Competition. For a small provincial club this is no mean feat but for some the expectation levels are higher and they are never satisfied. Our infrastructure has also come on in leaps and bounds with a 4g pitch and a magnificent Indoor Football Arena complete with cafe and business rentals which provide an extra income stream. The club also is involved with the council in the King George V project which will soon provide all weather pitches for various sports. There is also an announcement being made shortly as regards a new stand and other developments for Palmy. As regards the alledgedly crass appointment of the "big blue nose" to the Palmy board this was in fact a successful appointment and brought a breath of fresh air to Palmy and he opened up new avenues of communication to Palmy. The same person now operates a successful public house within Dumfries town centre which is freqented by many Queens fans. As regards the directors opposing the appointment of a fans rep on to the board, the shareholders also opposed such a move by a vote at the AGM. There a varying views on the club appointing a SLO but they have made some attempt to bring the fans closer to the club.

Scottish Football is going through a rough time but I remain optimistic that Queens can consolidate in the Championship with our new manager and with the league's most valuable player the Dobmeister banging in the goals who knows we could sneak in to the playoffs.

Well said Admin and I agree with all your comments. There is far too much negativity from certain individuals who generally are operating in a fantasy world with unrealistic goals. We are a provincial side with a small following for a full time club and we should be thankful that we are able to compete to the levels we currently achieve and frankly we shoot higher than we should really be able to with our limited resources. Mon the South.

yep i agree with most of admins post ,but im not one for wanting to sit about consolidating in a league ,we have built up to this level ,now lets keep building ,we should be looking to challenge for promotion to the spl getting stronger every season until we get there ,becoming stagnant wont bring more supporters to palmy only ambition to win honours will ,thats the hard truth of it all ,we either settle for consolidation with very little ambition which will see the support dwindle away to nothing or build getting gradually stronger season on season .simply wanting to consolidate in the championship just wont wash for me likes .

Once again the resident know it all admin has shouted down a lapsed poster on this site trying to offer some ideas why fans are deserting Queens. I'm not interested in a blue nose pub in Dumfries. The Scottish Cup final was achieved on a platform of over-spending. No wonder most fans don't bother with this forum any more. See how easy this game is...

I was articulating why some fans may not bother going any more rather than listing the things that the club are doing well of which there are plenty including better community involvement through outreach schemes, the arena and other planned building projects.

I still contend that the Board have made numerous mistakes and done little but pay lip service to get many disillusioned fans back on board and improve communication with supporters. Add to this, they seem to have little interest in getting the atmosphere back on the terraces/stands and actually communicate first hand with fans that pay hard earned cash following Queens home and away and try to create an atmosphere at games. Have a look around at what other clubs are doing in Scotland and elsewhere and the progress being made instead of sitting back in your small town mentality bubble, you might just be suprised.

There was an opportunity in the wake of the Gretna debacle to do things differently and ALL Queens fans including the Board to come together to build a successful community club. For whatever reason, that hasn't really happened IMHO. The Board stay aloof and treat the fans as customers and leave them mostly in the dark. We've had one financial crisis where the begging bowls came out, I just hope that when the building work in and around Palmerston is complete, they don't have to come out again. Self-interest and all that.

Hey ho, keep doffing your Tam-O-Shanter if that's what floats your boat.
