The instance of these attacks will rise with a correlation to Islamic terrorist attacks.

Some people would argue that there is a root cause of Islamic terror attacks - a quite recent phonemenon - that Western foreign policy has been used as a recuitment tool for extremism. Videos of muslim civilian children being blown up by Western bombs is very powerful imagery.

Ultimately, both these arguements imply there is some sort of higher level of responsibility beyond the perpetrators. We've got to be careful, terrorists are responsible for their own actions. However that doesn;t mean we shouldn't have an objective approach at harm minimisation.

A divided community is exactly what the extremists and the far right want, they have a shared goal, and their actions are often succesful in achieving this.

The outcomes will be more extremism, and recruitment for both sides, a simple fact played out many times in history. The best we can do is stand united against the perputrators, not create an attitude of hostility that will make the world a worse place for the next generation. The world will be a better place if we react by teaching children tolerance and respect, not fear and suspicion.

Yep very good post John2. It is pointless fighting fire with fire, we need to throw water on the situation to stop it spiralling out of control. The water is as you say tolerance and respect and i would add understanding.

But what if the situation is a chip fat fire? Would you throw water on it then? I think you would.

Yuo really are disgraceful scoundrels. The Western foreign policy issue is a red herring. You just won't read or digest anything that goes against your anti-Western prejudices. A couple of weeks ago I posted statements made by a prominent Muslim female journalist from manchester and the leading Muslim lawyer in the UK that confirmed their view that the rise of Islamic terrorism was nothing to do with Western actions or policies but rather the spread and dissemination in Muslim households and mosques of anti-Semitic and homophobic views and an intolerance of what many Muslims saw as Western evils - music, discoes and girls going out partying. You disgraceful appeasers make me sick.

So what you are saying is that you have found an article by two Muslims who hold an opinion that suits your purpose and so believe that settles the issue?

It's good to know that you have such an open and enquiring mind.

By the way, who appointed her the 'leading Muslim lawyer in the UK'? I can think of a few Muslim lawyers who might disagree with that assessment.
