Anyway, you must be as bored of this conversation as I am by now? And I'm sure others are who are reading this back and forth about halal meat.

I am working on the basis of which is cheaper. I would have thought - and could very well be wrong - that stunning before slaughter adds an extra cost. I may well be wrong. If I'm not wrong, I would expect the non-stunned meat to be cheaper.
In that case, the person responsible for buying meat at a school or hospital may well lie if asked by someone in order to stop any trouble arising. If the head/hospital staff think the person questioning about the meat may prefer it to be stunned first, they could quite easily lie and say it has been. We would have no proof either way.

I agree that they could if there was evidence of non rspca food being considerably cheaper. But as the supply and demand on non stunned animals is quite small and therefore more 'niche', it is if anything more expensive. more a supply for the hardcore traditionalist Muslims!
Certainly never been a discussion in my experience of schools can*****. And as a vegan I'd be quite alert to it.
I notice from a quick search that the Mail and Sun have led with regular features on this topic over the last few years. Good old trad Brit seekers of truth and justice! Not a hidden agenda in sight :-)
