May is also set to get a fresh start at Preston, it looks like we ersed about too much with that one. If we offered them 400k like they asked for instead of 300k he would have been here already.

Well thats 1 week to go until our season officially starts and technically we have only signed 1 player so far, 3 including the 2 loans who could be called back at any time.Better get your fingers out AFC.

tomorrow the deadline for signing and registering anyone in time for next weeks opening game, squad is threadbare and this is quite worrying.........

The squad is wafer thin.
we need three first X1 players in asap.
I wouldn't put too much cash on us beating either of the Europa league opponents with that squad.
Time to move on from May & Maloney if we're getting a*sed about - both huge injury gambles anyway.

Still too early to write off the May deal just yet. Sounds like the P&J have just been speculating that Neil's appointment could scupper the move just as many on here have. I suspect that May will want some assurances that he is part of the manager's plans next season.

Think there's more possibility of May coming on loan for 6 months than a permanent deal now - Neil won't want to sell him without giving him a chance to prove what he can do but he'll still be short of match fitness after such a long spell out - solution? Send him to Aberdeen for 6 months to see if he's still worth keeping.

I think we'll sign some squad filler type player in the next day or two, but can't see anyone coming in who's going to walk into the starting 11 before the deadline - unless the Arnason rumours are true.

I wouldn't be that bothered about signing May and Maloney if we managed to buy some players of the same quality as them. But I just get the feeling if we dont get those 2 now we will end up signing guys from England that no one has heard of and they will be the same level as Stockley,Storey etc.

I guess you could say Stewart is the short term replacement for McGinn but Hayes and Taylor still haven't been replaced yet,unless we are planning to have Wright and O'Conner as their replacements and buy some squad fillers, doesn't bode well for us being as good this season imo.

If so that would mean Storey is our only other striker if Rooney gets injured or is doing feck all in the game.

Surely we are going to sign another striker before the deadline for next weeks game.

All this should have been sorted weeks ago, to go into a Euro qualifier with only Rooney as a recognised striker is mince

And Rooney isn't known for blistering starts to the season - tends to be a slow burner
I think we're going into a difficult tie (irrespective of opposition) with a squad that is thin in a few areas.
To be fair, DM has publicly said where he wants to strengthen (central defence, wide and up front)....
BUT ....we've done f*ck all to address it.
We seem to be getting d1cked about with Maloney & May.
Think it's maybe time to move on from them.

Seems a no brainer to offer him a 2 year deal, he'd be a huge upgrade on big Ash, & Anthony O'Connor.
and IF, as is alleged, we were prepared to offer £500k for a striker (when Boyce was linked) then surely there's a plan B to Steveie May?

If we go out to either of the opponents in QR2 due to lack of activity in transfer market, then that's farcical
