    Wicket

What is a wicket and why is it bad if it's sticky?

Only ask as I hear that Airdrie are in a sticky wicket situation.

Don't fret, you just take your wickets and move to a different playing field which isn't at all sticky.

Google the 'Sevco Way', should put your mind at rest

The 'wicket' is the area on a cricket pitch between the stumps (the stumps are the wee sticks at either end of the wicket) A 'sticky' wicket will allow more action to be put on the ball by the bowler, hence it is a rather more dangerous place to be for the batsman.
I am sorry that "Airdrieonians FC" are in trouble.
Tell me - why was is not just the company that went out of business back in '02?

Cheers for the clear and comprehensive answer to my cricket wicket query.

As for 2002, Airdrieonians went into liquidation and the rules meant we were immediately booted out. When we took over Clydebanks registration we were told that the new club could not have the same name as the club in liquidation and the badge could not be similar either, so we have Airdrie Utd with the silly badge. Both rules changed in later years.

I don't think any actual rules changed, wasn't it the case that Doncaster and co wanted to pretend Rangers survived which they couldn't do if Airdrie United remained a different club even though they failed the CVA as well. What a complete farce the SPL/SPFL have made of the whole thing

Was being sarcastic, no rules were changed on paper, but let's just say Airdrie faced the full force of the rules in 2002 but a relaxed version was practised later on another club. You can't pretend not to be in liquidation.

Gretna had the full force applied in 2008 and are still trying to get membership of the SFA for their new club, yet the huns still think they were discriminated against
