Thread: Anyone else concerned about injuries this season...

Anyone else concerned about injuries this season...

Heard one or two fans questioning Warnie's pre-season methods, running players into the ground etc, and that it might cause injury problems later in the season. I have also heard other supporters thinking we might be fitter next season and tougher and less likely to have players breaking down.

I am not up on fitness and all the science behind it but I thought it might be a good discussion point for the punters on here.

So what do you think is Warnie's approach going to make or break our team next season?

Has anyone witnessed any of the training sessions yet?

I don't think it's been so hard if you listened to PW on Radio Sheffield yesterday. The talk beforehand was very heavy running and little ball work however it appears there has been quite a lot of ball work. In Austria there will be an early morin in run followed by 2 sessions and then an evening class work session. So my interpretation is that it is intense but varied and he isn't running them into the ground just building stamina.

That's the thing isn't it if he goes soft on them then the fans will complain that they are too slow and can't last 90 mins but if he's too hard on them we will moan that we ran them too hard.

Personally I think they should run their legs off and train twice as hard as last year,

From what I hear Taylor is still injured from that derby county match, not sure what is exactly wrong with him. It's just speculation though

Taylor's Hip, it came from Warney in an interview.

Obviously we don't want soft but training too hard won't help anyone either.

What I find funny is that Warney was the fitness coach last season and they were nowhere near fit enough

Wasn't just last year was it though it was every year in championship we lacked pace and stamina.

Personally I don't see the loss of Taylor is that big of a deal we still have newell bray Williams forde and baily king to play down wing

lbj was talking about injuries yesterday. He may want to add to this but he was talking of JCH. On reflection I can see why JCH didn't have such a good game yesterday (if you read the matchthread)

I can't imagine him liking playing against Parkgate on that pitch.

I disagree silly. Under Evans the team gave everything to the final whistle. And also under Warnock. (derby prime example)

It was when the young modern style managers come in the stamina sempt to drop. Or was it the players who were brought in ?

I was more talking about the start of each season we were like the 100-1 shot horse that never got out of the stalls at the start until all the other horses had but had managed to pass the ones who had ran out of will power or had fallen at one as the fences.

Our finnishes have been good but our starts have been terrible.

The sad thing is everyone tony Stewart Inclued know that we can do so much better.

This season is totally different now a fair few new players new management team.
At least it looks like we have a manager buying the players he wants which fit into how he wants to play no scattergun approach or like last season pissing about chasing players we aren't going to get.
Players get injured it's just how it is maybe they could try and play through the pain barrier sometimes but that doesn't seem to be in a lot of players mindset nowadays.
Just let Warne get on with it and see what happens.
