    Lee Ryder's half-time verdict

Newcastle trailing here to Mainz on a sweltering day in Germany.

The Magpies fell behind to a sloppy goal and while having possession their final pass has been disappointing. Mitrovic doesn’t look at it and is struggling to build up any rapport with De Jong.

There will be plenty of changes in the second half - and Newcastle need them.

Well, watching it you can see he's not having a good game.

Regardless of what the chronicle say, he's missing chances and worryingly getting outmuscled by the CB of Mainz. It's justified criticism by chronicle.

Subs are: Chancel Mbemba, Rolando Aarons and Jesus Gamez have replaced Ciaran Clark, Matt Ritchie and Paul Dummett at the break. We're under way

Mitro, Diame & Dummett need to be moved on none of them are good enough for the premiership.

Can't help but think if Gayle started this game we would of been winning this game by now and as for Mitro he's done more arguing with the ref and linesman than actually playing football.

The specifically said about Dummett's mess up that is is dozy defending:

United sliced open down the right and Oztunali beats Dummett to the ball before hooking past Darlow. Dozy defending.
